    Hope is not a plan. Time to rethink L&D strategy. After discussing it for about six months, we're finally ready to say something out loud. Our latest research report, Hope is Not a Plan: Building a Future-Ready L&D Strategy, explores what L&D functions should consider for the next generation of employee development. 3 key insights from the research: Strategy Design should be intentional, not an afterthought. An L&D strategy should be deliberate. The research identified. Our framework identifies 5 sections and 18 key areas every L&D team should measure. After scouring the literature, we found no comprehensive model covering them all—so we built one ourselves. Collaboration is key. L&D can’t go it alone. Leaders repeatedly stressed the importance of buy-in and collaboration across the organization. To support this, our research resulted in a RASCI model, identifying how (and how much) L&D should collaborate with other functions. An L&D strategy should balance stability and flexibility. Agility is essential, but stability also matters. As organizations evolve, certain elements of employee development need to remain steady to give employees a clear, continuous sense of development priorities.
