Japan Trade Mission Blog: Day 2 On day 2, our delegates presented Chicago’s strengths to members of Japan’s startup and corporate communities at JETRO - Japan External Trade Organization - the leading organization helping Japanese companies expand outside of Japan. The presentation that featured a detailed overview of Chicagoland’s $900B+ economy and and the over 650 Pro Chicago Decisions since 2021 concluded with a fireside chat presented by City Colleges of Chicago Chancellor Juan Salgado, Cleveland Avenue’s CEO Don Thompson and Chicago Ventures’ Partner, Kevin Willer, moderated by proud World Business Chicago Board member Burwood Group President Jim Hart. Their message was simple: Chicago welcomes your business. The delegation divided into two groups during the afternoon to cover ground with key Japanese companies like Heartseed Inc. and QUNIE CORPORATION, while also conducting an interactive roundtable about the future of healthcare and Chicago’ position as the leader in advancing all things healthcare with An Earth, PicoCELA Inc., and Sagri Co., Ltd. After a full day of business meetings, we wrapped up with an unforgettable Cubs vs. Dodgers game. It was an incredible way to kick off the season—especially with Seoul Suzuki, Shota Imanaga, and Shohei Ohtani, three of Japan’s biggest baseball stars, on the field. The game highlighted Japan’s deep love for baseball and the strong cultural ties between Chicago and Japan. Stay tuned for Day 3, our last day in Tokyo before our big move to Osaka during Spring Equinox, The Japanese holiday marking the beginning of Spring. What an exciting collaboration with Shive-Hattery! We recently completed the two-phase buildout of Advanced Fertility Center of Chicago’s new clinic at 20 W Kinzie, which includes exam and procedure rooms, physician offices, lab offices, and holding bays, as well as embryology, andrology and endocrinology labs. The scope also included the addition of a standby diesel power generator, medical gas system, and a standalone mechanical system. A huge thank you to the Redmond team—Louie Ricciardi, Brandon Haggerty, Daniel Gallo, Mike Caveney, and Anthony Urso—for their incredible work on this project, and to our partners at Avison Young and Stantec for their collaboration. Redmond recently collaborated with PBD and Lumen Workplace on the expansion of?Alma Lasers’ space at 215 N Peoria. After completing their 1st floor med spa and 9th floor office space in 2023, the aesthetic and medical?laser?company reengaged us to complete their 5th floor space, expanding their office footprint. Team Redmond recently completed a complex concrete pour on the 7th floor amenity buildout at 25 E Washington, which involved the pumping of over 4 trucks worth of concrete up from street level. Redmond recently collaborated with Gensler and R2 Companies on the conference center buildout at the Chicago Board of Trade Building. Located on the 2nd floor of 141 W Jackson, the space provides ample conferencing space as well as open lounge areas for the building. We’re especially excited to share that the Chicago Board of Trade Building has been named a finalist for Redevelopment of the Year (Reposition of the Year category) at the 37th Annual Greater Chicago Food Depository Commercial Real Estate Awards! Congratulations to R2 and the entire project team on this well-deserved recognition.
