Yesterday, Reddit's WomenEng Employee Resource Group and AnitaB.org #GraceHopperConference attendees came together in Philly for networking and pizza. We shared our?#GHC?highlights and favorite Reddit communities (of course) and made lasting connections with fellow women in tech. We recently wrapped our Q3 cohort of Adopt-an-Admin (AAA)—Wait, what's AAA, you ask? It's a program at Reddit that embeds employees (affectionately referred to as "admins") on moderator teams to grow our empathy and understanding of the mod experience and build trust between the two parties as we get to know each other on a deeper level. Every quarter, a group of admins signs up to moderate a community that has volunteered to be a part of the program. For the next three weeks, those admins set aside time each day to help moderate, participate in decision-making and problem-solving, listen to their team's needs, document learnings, and provide suggestions for tools or opportunities to make moderating smoother. At the end of the program, admins recap their experience and provide feedback that can help improve our product.

15 years ago, redditors had an idea to sponsor a small town in the UK called Redditch, and we’re finally making good on that concept. The r/football community is thrilled to sponsor Redditch United Football Club, brought to life by our Community Funds program and a team of folks at Reddit. The Redditch United stadium and jerseys proudly feature Reddit branding (hey, Snoo ?? ), and we have four exciting 'Reddit Match Days' lined up for the 2024/25 season, starting with the first on October 19th. As part of this community-driven sponsorship, 500 tickets will be given away for each 'Reddit Match Day,’ allowing users to attend home games and enjoy exclusive shirt giveaways. I have a hard time putting into words how grateful I am for the 12 weeks I spent interning this summer at Reddit, Inc. in NYC. I had a super cool intern project using existing OCR and internal ML models to improve alt-text for images on Reddit, which was both challenging and rewarding. I’m honored to have worked with my manager, Catarina Oliveira, who taught me so much about effective leadership by example. Even before I joined the team, she put together thoughtful project proposals that prioritized both value to the company and my personal and professional development. I’m equally grateful for my amazing mentor, Artem Litvinov, who is incredibly smart, funny, and fun to work with. Working with Artem never felt like work. Having a mentor who provided regular, high-resolution feedback made a huge difference in my experience. It meant so much when he advocated on my behalf without me even having to ask. I can’t thank the SEO team enough for their mentorship and support through the best summer of my life. Thank you to my recruiter, Waverly Heurtelou, for guiding me through the recruiting process and throughout my internship. A special thanks to Muhamed Hobi for listening patiently to all of my ideas and approving my PRs when it was well past the end of the day for my Europe-based team. Shoutout to Ron Alleyne and Allie Pacelli for making me feel so welcome in the NYC office, and to Philippa Gilsenan for your wonderful mentorship and support—especially when I had the mid-deploy scaries. Thank you to Rogan Murley for being the master of GraphQL and experiments, and for helping me push my PRs across the finish line before the weekend to collect a few extra days' worth of valuable experiment data. I could go on and on about how much I loved working at Reddit, but it still wouldn’t do it justice. If you ever have the chance to work or intern at Reddit, I can’t recommend it enough. The projects, culture, and compensation are all phenomenal.

The Olympics fandom on Reddit is unmatched. In Q2, this community geared up for the summer games by more than doubling its subscriber count. From all over the world, fans flocked to r/olympics in preparation to discuss their favorite sport, athlete, and moments happening in Paris. Oui oui. ??
