关于我们

The American Red Cross prevents and alleviates human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. Our mission is more than words. We always aim to prevent and relieve suffering with every action. The Red Cross shelters, feeds and provides comfort to people affected by disasters; supplies about 40% of the nation’s blood; teaches skills that save lives; distributes international humanitarian aid; and supports veterans, military members and their families. The Red Cross is not a government agency. The Red Cross is a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that depends on volunteers and the generosity of the American public to deliver its mission.

  • We're overwhelmed by the incredible support at our Pennsylvania Rivers Chapter Celebration of Heroes breakfasts this year in Berks County and the Lehigh Valley. Your generosity makes a real difference in providing aid to those who need it most. Plus, it was our absolute honor to recognize local heroes who are making our communities a better place. To everyone who attended, donated, volunteered or spread the word - thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Together, you are helping the Red Cross carry out its mission of alleviating human suffering. The 2025 Pennsylvania Rivers Celebration of Heroes was made possible in part by generous contributions from Olympus Corporation of the Americas, Golden Pepper Productions and Penske Logistics. ??: Tatiana Madise, Red Cross volunteer

  • When powerful hurricanes devastated North Carolina last fall, David Weale said he felt compelled to help out and began searching for the right opportunity. A deep dive into a number of volunteering opportunities led to the American Red Cross, which has enabled the Butler resident to assist local people facing significant tragedies. “I didn’t realize there was such a need in our local community,” Weale said. “I signed up, applied and went through some training. I really enjoyed what I saw and some of the things that they offered and just decided to volunteer and help out.” READ MORE: https://rdcrss.org/41LyhrV

  • Cora Tafelski was just four years old when her and her family’s lives were turned upside down when she was diagnosed with B-cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia, a blood and bone marrow cancer. In her first week of treatment, Cora received a blood transfusion. Her mother said watching the blood take effect was “mind-blowing.” “After she got it, you could just see the difference,” Greta said. “Not only in the color of her skin, but it made her feel better. You could tell she got what she needed to feel back to normal – as normal as she could feel while being sick.” Over the course of more than two years of chemotherapy, Cora received four blood transfusions. She faced every challenge with strength and even kept the nurses laughing along the way. In October 2022, Cora finished treatment and today, she is cancer-free. Every day, patients like Cora rely on the generosity of volunteer blood donors. #HelpCantWait in an emergency. This Red Cross Month, roll up a sleeve and give. • When Hurricane Beryl touched down in Texas last year, hundreds of Red Crossers like Mariellen Sereno raised their hands to help those affected. As a disaster health services volunteer and nurse, Mariellen cared for people at an emergency shelter. She performed basic health check-ups, replaced lost or damaged medication, and supported residents with access and mobility needs. This included assisting residents like Penny King with her walker to get in and out of bed. As disasters intensify across the country, more people are relying on the Red Cross for essential support, including shelter, food and financial assistance. These critical services, which are fueled by the generosity of donors, are vital as disasters disrupt lives and worsen health, hunger and housing needs. Your support on Red Cross Giving Day — March 26 and beyond — enables us to respond to future disasters, big and small, and provide comfort and care to people as they recover. Give today to deliver help when it can’t wait: https://rdcrss.org/4gDI20z #HelpCantWait

  • For more than a century, we've been dedicated to serving people in need – thanks to our founder Clara Barton. Through supporting service members and their families, collecting blood for patients, providing individuals with help and hope after disasters, teaching lifesaving training and providing international aid, we've stayed true to our roots. This #WomensHistoryMonth and every day, we celebrate Clara and the legacy she left behind. ?? #LeadLikeClara

Millions of Americans lack access to critical health data beyond basic weight and blood pressure screenings. We're helping bridge this gap by adding hemoglobin A1C results to our health insights during the month of March to empower donors with vital health information. Read this LinkedIn article from our chief medical officer, Pampee Young, M.D., Ph.D., to learn more about this issue and how we're committed to supporting healthier communities.
