TLDR: if your in Cyber security or interested in cyber security and you didn't come to hack red con... you missed out. RedSeer Security and team are building something special for the community with this event. So Hack Red Con has come to an end. I had a great time meeting and talking with others. the venue was fun and challenging from a volunteer role I learned many new things. placed 11 in the MetaCTF (out of 30+ teams)( I only worked on it a few hours for a single day) played in all of the games and participated in the villages. I attended many notable talks with great speakers. and I finally spoke at a conference.... the only thing I'm missing is a black badge... but I'm coming for it next year. till next time.

I’m thrilled to announce that I’ve reached a significant milestone in my cybersecurity journey – successfully completing my first SIEM project! This journey began shortly after completing my SOC Core Skills V2 and V3 certifications with Black Hills Information Security a few weeks ago. These certifications have been game-changers, equipping me with essential skills and the confidence to tackle real-world security operations. Starting out as a beginner in SIEM wasn’t easy; each step brought unique challenges. From configuring Sysmon and Logstash to setting up the Elastic Agent, Elasticsearch, and Kibana, every tool played a critical role in achieving this milestone. Patience, persistence, and hands-on learning made it all possible! A special thanks to Build Cyber and RedSeer Security for this wonderful opportunity and their continued support. ?? Key takeaways from this journey: Persistence is key! Achieving those first wins may take time, but the reward is well worth it. Breaking down complex tasks into manageable steps makes each milestone achievable. ??? Building practical skills through hands-on projects creates a deeper, lasting understanding of SOC fundamentals.
