EXCITING NEWS FROM RMT! Jennifer Jaquess promoted to Executive Director of Red Mountain Theatre Longtime leader Jaquess steps into the top leadership role as Keith Cromwell becomes Director of Institutional Advancement The Board of Directors of Red Mountain Theatre (RMT) is thrilled to announce the promotion of Jennifer Jaquess to Executive Director. Jaquess has served RMT for the last twelve years, first as Director of Development and most recently as Managing Director. The Board’s decision is grounded in Jaquess’s outstanding performance as Managing Director and her success as Development Director through some of the most challenging times in RMT’s 45-year history. “Jennifer is a proven leader who knows RMT and our community,” said Janet Kavinoky, Board of Directors President. “This was a unanimous vote of confidence in her abilities. We know she’ll sustain the exciting trajectory Red Mountain Theatre has been on – both as a cultural asset for Birmingham and as a significant player in the regional and national theatre industry.” Keith Cromwell, who has held the post of Executive Director for the last two decades, is stepping into a new position as RMT’s Director of Institutional Advancement. “In the last five years, we have made our Arts Campus a reality and significantly grown the scope of our operations,” said Cromwell. “None of this would have been possible without Jennifer by my side as Managing Director and, often, leading the way as we navigated a worldwide pandemic and its lingering effects.” The high-quality productions and educational programming will continue to be led by Roy Lightner, Singh Artistic Director. Now in his third year with the theatre, Lightner has helped define the artistic excellence considered a hallmark of Red Mountain Theatre’s work. “The arts are as vital as ever, and the moment is right for me to focus on deepening community relationships, ensuring our long-term fiscal stability, and developing new artistic works,” said Cromwell. “As RMT continues to expand and explore new opportunities under Jennifer and Roy’s leadership, I’m excited about taking on a new role and pursuing it wholeheartedly.” A graduate of Samford University, Jaquess is a member of the Leadership Birmingham Class of 2023 and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the National Alliance for Musical Theatre. Following the well-established industry model, she will concentrate on the business and organizational side of the theatre, as it heads into its 46th season. “It’s such an exciting time for this theatre,” said Kavinoky. “With Jennifer as Executive Director, supported by Keith, Roy, and—of course—the rest of the amazing staff, we have a leadership team that brings business savvy, artistic genius, and passion for creating powerful theatre experiences for our community.”
