When its freeeeeeezing cold outside, but precisely prefabricated KLH Massivholz floor panels are going down fast... You never know what challenges are going to fly at you in the construction sector but care and diligence go a long way in our business- Thanks to Sebastian Popp at KLH USA, Radovan Bogojevic at Acetra, and the rest of the team for their help making this project flow.

Our project in Wilson, WY used brackets and plates for CLT shear wall connections according to the 2021 ANSI/AWC Special Design Provisions for Wind and Siesmic (SDPWS 2021, Appendix B). Adherence to the prescriptive code was a major hardship in the design and procurement phases. The panel layouts are not able to be optimized. The plates and brackets -numbering in the thousands- are not available "off the shelf." Further, the assembly and installation of these connections is a major challenge. Not recommended. We were unable to find many projects where the same code was imposed, so we are putting it out here for professionals that need a reference in the future. Reach out if you want to discuss it. We are breaking down a new resort build into pieces. Early in the digital design, we take apart the building, stack it up, and visualize the delivery and procurement plan. What gets prefabricated? What can arrive in fixed length bundles? What is local and what isn't? Allowing our clients to visualize the project before any sawdust has been made allows them to enjoy the process too! We are loving this Scandinavian triple-glazed window package. The detailing and coordination was not very easy, but the quality is outrageous. It is astonishing that the cost was lower than a domestic double glazed contractor grade alternative (you know the names)... In our on-going barn projects, we are delivering 44 Simpson Strong-Tie Strong Walls ?? for the lateral bracing together with the glulam post and beam. Simpson Strong Walls are LVL panels with defined engineering values and pre-installed hardware. Because of the large seismic load on this structure, the strong walls are back-to-back and stacked. As you can see in the second story detail, the glulam girders are predrilled precisely to accommodate the anchors. Thanks to Simpson Strong-Tie for the technical and commercial assistance folding this product into our building kits and simplifying the delivery and assembly of them :)

This was an incredibly complex project to get off the ground. It is a private development consisting of twin 2500 sq ft Residences 1200 Sq ft ARUs in a restrictive building environment. Thanks to the careful planning and great partnership, the assembly is moving at a better than expected pace. Touch wood, we will be seeing the rafters on and roof structure closed in NEXT WEEK! Tradition and Innovation. That is what the timber business is all about. Red Falls Timber designed prefabbed barn kits for the American West. We have two similar barn projects heading to Wyoming and Idaho this fall. Three container loads of precise glulam and solid spruce will ship from from ZAZA TIMBER in Latvia shortly. Our friends at Rothoblaas are supplying the hardware kits including factory installed X post bases for the many posts holding up this post and beam barndominium.
