?? Empowering Dreams: Keva New Holy's Journey to Becoming a Solar Installer ???? Keva New Holy grew up on the Pine Ridge Reservation, where opportunities can often feel out of reach. But today, Keva’s story is one of hope, determination, and the power of community support to change lives. Earlier this year, Keva joined Red Cloud Renewable’s BRIDGE program, a rigorous solar installation training designed to empower Native American women to break into the renewable energy industry. For Keva, who had never even used a screwdriver before enrolling, it was a leap of faith. But with a strong desire to learn and a passion to make a positive impact, she dove into the program headfirst. Keva's journey didn't stop there. After excelling in the BRIDGE program, she took another bold step by joining our workforce training in partnership with Indigenized Energy. It was during this hands-on training that her dreams truly began to take shape. In a candid moment, Keva shared her goal of becoming a solar installer—a role that would allow her to uplift her community while protecting the environment. And today, as we kick off our Giving Tuesday campaign, we are thrilled to share that Keva’s dream has come full circle! On November 8th, she officially received an offer to join Freedom Forever as a solar installer. This achievement is a testament to Keva’s resilience, hard work, and the transformative power of education. Reflecting on her journey, Keva shared, “I sincerely appreciate your invaluable support and guidance, Red Cloud Renewable staff. The mentorship in the programs has been crucial to my growth in the renewable energy field.” Keva’s story is a shining example of what’s possible when Native women are given the tools, training, and support to thrive. At Red Cloud Renewable, we believe that it doesn’t matter where you start; with the willingness to learn, a love for the environment, and dedication to your community, anything is possible. ??? But none of this would be possible without your support. As Giving Tuesday approaches, we invite you to be part of our mission to empower more young women like Keva. Every donation helps us continue offering life-changing training, mentorship, and support to Native American students eager to make a difference. ???? 关于我们
Since 2002, Henry Red Cloud has been working to bring energy sovereignty to his community on the Pine Ridge Reservation in South Dakota with the dream of creating a new generation of Solar Warriors. Henry is a fifth generation direct descendant of the infamous Chief Red Cloud (Mahpiya Luta), one of the most renowned American Indian leaders in history, and is dedicated to seeing the vision of his ancestors fulfilled by ushering in a revival of the Lakota people and all Native Americans within seven generations of his great-great-great grandfather. Red Cloud Renewable has helped provide field training and professional certifications to over a thousand individuals from over 70 tribes. Our work is focused within three strategic pillars: Solar Installation Native American students learn about the benefits of solar energy, including reducing electricity bills, solar powered water pumps for gardens, and the potential for energy independence by going “off the grid.” Home Weatherization An all-Native crew runs “The Native to Native Energy Sovereignty” Weatherization program, which is grant-funded by the U.S. Department of Energy. The crew does energy assessments and building retrofits on the reservation, helping create safe, healthy homes. Sustainable Home Building Completed in conjunction with our partners at "In Our Hands," the “Lakota Thiyuha Project” offers innovative housing that is affordable, sustainably built, using cellular concrete and locally harvested lumber, and easy to regulate in extreme temperatures. This project not only helps alleviate stresses related to the housing crisis in our community, but also adds to our mission of workforce development as we hire only Natives for construction projects.

Please check out Jan Scott who taught several weeks with the Remote Energy team in the Red Cloud Renewable BRIDGE class! Jan's superpower is her level head, energetic spirit, and humor that she brings while leading an install with students. It was such a pleasure working with her and learning from her! Thanks Jan!
We’re now in Week 3 of our Women in Solar Instructor Spotlight Series: A celebration of the strong, powerful women leading the charge in the solar industry.?We recognize the lack of diversity, the gaps of representation that deserve to be present in the solar industry, and we’re so glad that times and opportunities are changing for women. Instructor: Jan Scott Role: Lead Solar Installer, Independent Power Jan Scott is a Navajo woman and mother to two kids. Solar Energy is not only her profession but her passion. Seeing how solar can impact the lives of people who have no electricity or running water is powerful. Also, installing solar for people wanting to have a smaller carbon footprint and having a sustainable mindset is amazing. Jan’s hope and goal while in this industry is to encourage more women/female identifying persons to join a trade, especially solar energy! #RemoteEnergy #women #solar #spotlight #series #renewableenergy #journey

10 years ago today! Our Founder & CEO Chief Henry Red Cloud was building a compressed earth block building that we use today as our office here at Red Cloud Renewable Energy Center on Pine Ridge Reservation. It's amazing to find old photos and see his dreams coming into fruition, everyday is one step closer to a self sustaining reservation.
