Red Canyon Engineering & Software would like to congratulate NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration and SpaceX on the successful launch of Europa Clipper Monday! Red Canyon Software is proud to have supported JPL developing flight software for Europa Clipper for the past 5 years.?Our Chief Software Architect, Lorn Miller was responsible for developing the software that boots up the flight software to get the spacecraft initialized and ready for operations! Red Canyon also supported the launch of Europa Clipper at NASA Kennedy Space Center on the Launch Services Program (LSP) (ELVIS 3) as a subcontractor to a.i. solutions.?Thanks to Mike Campbell, Noel Sargent and Sukh Chase for their support on LSP! Not only is the Europa Clipper the largest spacecraft NASA has ever built, but it is also the first mission to focus on Jupiter’s ocean moon Europa, further exploring the question of life in our solar system as this ice moon is one of the most promising places of life. Red Canyon Software is excited to follow along as the mission continues into 2030! #ExploringOtherPlanetsImprovingOurOwn #NASA #JPL #KennedySpaceCenter #EuropaClipper

Introducing our last bright young professional participating in the inaugural Red Canyon cFS Internship! For our final week, please meet Selim Saridede! Selim Saridede lives in New Jersey and is a junior studying computer engineering at the University of Washington – Seattle. “My friend told me about the internship opportunity, and I found it a good chance to learn and reflect on my knowledge in real-world projects. I am passionate about technology and want to focus on embedded systems and hardware, so this internship is a great fit for my interests and passions. In addition, this internship being online was a plus for me since I could attend the meetings wherever I went. I hope to learn more about embedded software with low-level languages and become familiar with the tools being used in this profession. My main goal is to become more familiar with the professional environment and learn the skills necessary for real-world projects. I am most excited about completing an actual project that we learn from scratch and apply on cFS. I look forward to becoming more familiar with Git, Linux, and C++. I already knew them, but I want to become more confident with using these tools and use them with more complex projects. I've always hoped to join a technology company after graduation, so this internship is a fantastic opportunity for me to gain insights into the professional environment. It's preparing me for a career in this industry and helping me adapt to its demands. I like photography, playing soccer, and going hiking. My favorite movie is “The Lord of the Rings” trilogy. I watch the trilogy every year and read the books too. I would like to see New Zealand, especially Hobbiton Village”. As our internship concludes, we thank you for welcoming our interns with us! It’s clear to us that these individuals are the minds that will shape the future. This is just the beginning of the incredible impact they will make!? #ExploringOtherPlanetsImprovingOurOwn #cFSinternship #spotlightseries

Introducing our next pair of bright young professionals participating in the inaugural Red Canyon cFS Internship! For week 5, please meet Ben Rogers and Mason O.! Ben Rogers is from Denver, CO and is currently attending CU Boulder for Aerospace Engineering and attempting to double major in Quantum Engineering. “I heard about the internship from Barry Hamilton! My passion in Aerospace is deep space exploration and especially working on probes that would explore planets like Enceladus, Titan, or Europa. Hearing that this internship would be learning cFS deeply motivated me to apply especially as I have gained significant proficiency in C++ this last year in university. I am always looking to improve my coding skills but more importantly I am looking to understand the process behind how cFS is utilized. I don’t know if we will have the opportunity to but I am also always looking to hone my skills in working with other engineers in a collaborative setting. Not only does proficiency in cFS provide a valuable skill but the preparation that this internship provides for us interns makes me hope that I will be able to properly become a part of the Red Canyon family as I continue to gain experience and knowledge. I swim competitively and have for 14 years and am continuing to swim in college. My other hobbies include anything nerdy. I play video games, have played Dungeons and Dragons nearly weekly for over a decade, and also very involved with painting miniatures for Warhammer 40k which I have also been 3d printing miniatures for using my resin printer. My favorite book will probably always be Ready Player One and my favorite movie is Back to the Future, but I love the Lord of the Rings series as well”. Mason O. is from Colorado Springs, CO and in May he graduated from the University of Miami with a Bachelor of Science in computer science and a minor in Mathematics. “My mother knows Barry Hamilton and encouraged me to apply for this internship. I am excited to learn more about cFS and some real use cases of the software that we will be learning about. I was motivated to apply for this internship because I have always been interested in space travel, and this will allow me to get a look into the industry. I would like to apply some physics concepts in this internship and hopefully see how physics and math are accounted for and calculated when using software such as cFS. I see this internship helping me land my first full time job in tech by expanding my skills and knowledge as well as giving me some experience in how an open-source repo can be used on a large scale. I love the outdoors and love to swim and hike.?My favorite sport is Mixed Martial Arts, I watch it nearly every day and try to train it as much as I can. I also have been wanting to go to Colombia for about a year now (specifically Medellín), part of the reason I want to go is because I have always loved warm weather and Medellín is known as the city of eternal spring”!
