??Feel Good Friday?? During the month of November, staff at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital collected food for a Thanksgiving Food Drive to benefit Lunch Break, a community food pantry, in Red Bank. As part of our RBVH Gives Back initiative, team members filled reusable shopping bags with the 10 food items that were on a provided shopping list from Lunch Break. Those bagged items will be given to each family, along with a turkey, to make their Thanksgiving Day meal complete. Never ones to leave the furry family members out, we also set up a collection box for pets, and dropped off those donated items to Lunch Break as well, ensuring everyone from pets to people had a meal to enjoy come Turkey Day!! ???? ??Santa Claus is Coming to Town?? Tell the four-legged, furry, finned and feathered family members not to worry--we made sure the big guy in red had the new hospital's address when we made the move! ?? Santa and his Elves will be stopping by on Sunday, December 8th for our annual Santa Paws event. Pets and their families are invited to come by for pictures from 10am to 3pm. The pictures are a $20 donation for each picture and proceeds go directly to Save U.S. Pets. ?? There will also be a donation box set up that day collecting dog and cat food, treats, toys and beds. These items will then be donated to local shelters and rescue groups, helping to bring some of the comforts of home to the shelter pets for the holidays.??

??We Came, We Saw, We Conferenced?? Last week Red Bank Veterinary Hospital attended the New York Vet Show, a 2-day Veterinary Conference at the Jacob Javits Center in New York City. Veterinary professionals from all over the world attended this conference, expanding their knowledge through lectures, and gaining insight into the latest technology, products, services, and specialties offered to the veterinary field through the over 150 exhibitors on the conference room floor. They could even take the opportunity to blow off some steam on the indoor pickleball court! Thank you to everyone who stopped by the RBVH booth. We delighted in seeing not only some of our current doctors and technicians, but also past co-workers who came by for a hug and shared a favorite memory of their time with us, and we loved making new professional connections as well. Congratulations to the winner of our "Tail-gaiting Package", and to all the winners of the Blood Bank prizes.

??Feel Good Friday?? Last month, as part of our "RBVH Gives Back" initiative, the hospital participated in an item drive for victims of Hurricane Helene. Working together with a local History teacher at the Marine Academy of Science and Technology and her students, employees collected items such as batteries, flashlights, canned goods, diapers, socks, and sweatshirts, plus much more. The items were then brought out to the school on nearby Sandy Hook and the students shipped them off to the hard hit southern states with all that they had collected as well. To make the drive a little fun, it was made into a competition between the 4 floors of the new hospital. The floor that had the most donations in their designated bin won. Everyone wins when charity and philanthropy is involved, but Floor One came out strong with a ton of supplies collected and bragging rights until the next competition rolls around.

???RBVH Gives Back??? On Sunday, November 3rd Grace's Gang of RBVH walked for the 8th straight year in the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's Out of the Darkness Walk. The "Gang", comprised of veterinarians, veterinary nurses, administrative team members, past co-workers, Grace's peers and faculty from the Marine Academy of Science and Technology and Middletown schools and their families and friends, as well as a whole pack of canines, all wearing the team color of green with their personalized bandanas, braved the cooler temperatures and enjoyed a beautiful walk around Thompson Park in Jamesburg, NJ. Grace's Gang raised $7,985 through their fundraising efforts for the walk and that money directly goes to help the Foundation in their efforts. The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention's mission is to save lives and support those affected by suicide. Their team of staff and volunteers across the country works on accomplishing this mission through direct education, state and federal advocacy, loss and healing support for anyone affected by suicide, and being the #1 private funder of suicide prevention research in the world.

This past Tuesday the staff at Red Bank Veterinary Hospital participated in a Halloween Bake Sale as part of their Red Bank Gives Back initiative. All the items at the sale, and there was a large table full of delicious treats ranging from vegan, to gluten free, to treats for dogs and everything else in between, were baked and donated by team members. Proceeds from the bake sale were donated to Grace's Gang of RBVH and their efforts as they participate in this Sunday's Out of the Darkness Walk for The American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Grace's Gang of RBVH has participated in the Out of the Darkness Walk since 2017, as the mental health crisis and need for resources and suicide prevention directly impacts the veterinary profession. A study by the CDC shows that suicide rates among those in the veterinary profession are significantly higher than the general U.S. population The study found that female veterinarians were 2.4 times as likely as the general U.S. population to commit suicide and that the rate for male veterinary technicians was five times higher. Among male veterinarians and female veterinary technicians, the rates were 1.6 and 2.3 times greater, respectively. If you would like to join Grace's Gang as we walk on Sunday, donate to our team, or learn more about AFSP's mission please click here: https://lnkd.in/eS7gTtC3
