It’s impossible to sum up two days of impact with just one post. As we approach the end of our second full day, we’ve engaged in deep, meaningful conversation about responsible production to end markets. We have also been inspired by Dr. Samuel Ramsey to maintain a spirit of optimism in spite of challenges and to embrace diversity and teamwork. Since 2018, The Recycling Partnership has honored a true recycling champion, Steve Thompson. As the organization’s former Executive Director, Steve played a pivotal role in the organization during its time as Curbside Value Partnership. The Partnership has continued to honor Steve and his life-long commitment to recycling by awarding grants to outstanding recycling professionals from municipalities, states, and non-profits to attend industry events. This year, over 70 individuals were selected to join us at The Pivot: Scale to Impact and we officially surpassed 300 grantees in the program’s six years. Yesterday was the first full day at The Pivot: Scale to Impact and it did not disappoint. The day kicked off with an opening keynote from The Partnership’s CEO Keefe Harrison, included conversations around policy landscapes, conversations on why our work matters, breakout sessions focused on packaging, EPR, pre-investment, and a special keynote by Ayana Elizabeth Johnson, Ph.D. And let’s not forget the appearance of your favorite feathered friend, Bertie, your personal recycling coach. Join us for our upcoming webinar on October 24th, "Unlocking Circularity for PET Packaging in the USA: 2040 system modeling and recommendations," co-hosted with the Sustainable Packaging Coalition (SPC) Coalition.
