This week, Eco-Cycle joined forces with?Recycle Colorado for the 6th annual Recycle Colorado Lobby Day, bringing together advocates from across the state to champion Senate Bill 25-163: Battery Stewardship Program. A special shout-out to our amazing team—Ryan Call, Rachel Setzke, Rosie B., Audrey Wheeler, Suzanne Jones, Randy Moorman, Denisse Casta?eda, Avery Lemons, Finn Jackson, and board members K.J. McCorry and Shelly Gottschamer—for leading the charge and volunteering at this event! Eco-Cycle & South Metro Fire District educated legislators about the importance of battery recycling while 70+ participants visited 88 legislators to advocate for expanded battery collection and recycling to reduce fires and recover valuable materials. A huge THANKS to volunteers Kimberly Ohlson, Denisse Castaneda, Senator Lisa Cutter, Suzanne Jones, K.J. McCorry, Tamar Krantz, and Meghan Wiebe for your support! We’re so grateful to everyone who made Lobby Day a success, and for being part of this grassroots effort to drive meaningful change in Colorado!

The Colorado Circular Communities (C3) Enterprise has awarded a $11.2M grant to Pretred, a Colorado company that makes barriers out of waste tires. The grant supports the expansion of PreTred’s operations to process waste tires into crumb rubber. Pretred’s expansion is estimated to turn four million waste tires from across Colorado into 30,000 barriers each year. C3 and the Circular Economy Development Center are working to expand sustainable end markets and keep valuable materials out of landfills—all while supporting local businesses and job growth.
