What I thought writing my chapter of “Beyond the Broker” would look like VERSUS what it actually looked like! Every time I scheduled time to write, I could barely articulate a sentence. Then, I would go for a walk or turn off my brain, and BAM! Everything I wanted to say would be right there. Stay tuned for more information on the book launch and my fellow authors that are Industry Experts & absolute POWERHOUSES! Wealth Management Matchmaker? - A Strategic Recruitment Partner & Advocate to Wealth Management's Finest ??, making meaningful connections that impact lives & support growth!??

I told my boss I was interested in a new role they just posted, and he asked for my resignation. The role required less hours & offered an aggressive comp plan, which I really needed in 2011. My husband was traveling 75% of the year, leaving me to function as a single mom of two small children for 21 consecutive days each month. I was a Licensed Producer for a new Insurance Agent that just launched his agency, so naturally, my primary focus was sales. From the moment I sat in my desk each morning, I immediately began working my way down a prospect list ‘dailing & smiling’ to sell Life & Health and Property & Casualty Insurance to new customers. While I wasn’t overwhelmingly fulfilled or passionate about the work I was doing, I was grateful for the opportunity, and had no intention of leaving. Then, they decided to hire a part time cold caller. The day before they announced the new role, I had begun making preparations to throw my littles a joint birthday party to celebrate milestone years, Bryson was turning 5 and it was Cheyenne’s FIRST birthday! I should have been ecstatic, happy, or maybe even sad, but I wasn’t. Not even a little bit. I was simply too tired to feel anything other than exhaustion. I was numb. As I drove into work the next morning, after dropping my kids off at daycare, I questioned where that year had gone. It should have been a year full of ‘lasts’ with my little man before he started kindergarten, and ‘firsts’ with my baby girl. I knew I needed to make a change, and I did, just not the one I planned… It took all morning to muster up the courage to ask for the new role, only to be told to pack up my stuff, and leave a letter of resignation with my office key behind on my way out. 6?9?2011… I accidentally quit my job & immediately reached out to Tiffany Howard to learn more about a job she posted on Facebook. Within an hour, I had changed out of my “insurance company” polo, and was driving into the Galleria to meet at her office. It took less than 5 minutes for her to tell me I wasn’t a good fit for the role, but she thought I’d make a great Recruiter. I spent the remainder of that afternoon, and a few hours the next day, meeting with the team. 6?13?2011… I received a phone call from Linda T Karcher with a verbal offer to join Houston City Personnel. 6?13?2024… While I am no longer a part of their team, as I started my own firm in 2018, I am (and will forever be) grateful for every person and experience that has shaped me, and led me to exactly where I am today. Moral of the story… sometimes your worst days lead to your best life! *The picture below was taken after long day of work in April of 2011 with my son. He turns 18 on Sunday.*

Wealth Management Matchmaker? - A Strategic Recruitment Partner & Advocate to Wealth Management's Finest ??, making meaningful connections that impact lives & support growth!??

June 3rd 2017. Each year, when this photo pops up on my memories, I am instantly overwhelmed with all of the emotions I felt that day. The woman in this photo was afraid, fearful and anxious, but above all, she was determined. It’s been 7 years since this photo was taken, as I made the trek back home to Texas after living in Michigan for nearly a year. While so much has changed, I will always remain grateful for what life in the mitten taught me. This was the year that truly defined me and my future. I remembered who I was and started to believe in myself, my worthiness, again. I was no longer angry, lost, and resentful of my circumstances, nor did I question the purpose of certain people, relationships, or events that had occurred in my life. It was there, in my lowest of lows, I gained the strength necessary to make a change. It was hard and messy, but I was capable. Were there still plenty of days ahead of me where I spent hours ugly crying in the shower? Absolutely. But I had accepted the plan I had for my life, was NOT the plan God had for me. Boy, am I oh SO VERY THANKFUL! When I see this photo, I see growth. I wouldn’t be where I am today if I hadn’t gone through the struggles I endured in that season of my life. To anyone currently in a “season of struggle” or fighting a silent battle, please know you were made for so much more! May you grow stronger each day, and gain the courage to make the hard choice. You got this! ???? #riseup #struggletostrength #reminder #mindfulmonday

With a mass exodus of Advisors leaving Wirehouses and IBDs, greatly effecting the RIA space, I found this study fascinating. "32% of IBD advisors have contemplated establishing their own independent RIA in the past year, driven by the prospects of higher payouts, greater autonomy, and a more personable working environment." While "46% of advisors view the operational responsibilities—such as managing technology, staffing, and compliance—as major hurdles". I'd love feedback & personal stories from your transitions as well!
