Here’s what really happens: - Some months you’re overwhelmed with clients. Other months, it’s crickets. - You’ll pitch the best candidate—only for them to ghost you at the last minute. The reality is, you don’t “arrive” in this business. You build it one client, one placement, one mistake at a time. These gurus preaching about scaling from zero to seven figures leave out the messy middle. - The months you barely break even. - The clients who disappear once the invoice is sent. - The candidates who accept counteroffers after weeks of negotiations. It’s not 0 to 7—it’s 0 ?? 1 ?? 2, and sometimes you take a detour back to 0. Success in running a recruiting agency comes from adopting the chaos, adapting quickly, and learning how to pivot on the fly. Forget the magic formula. Not sugar-coating—but just 6-8 months in recruiting and putting too much pressure on yourself to close deals immediately is not realistic. Sure, some people hit the ground running. Some industries move faster. But please — don't compare yourself to others. Instead of stressing over billings and placements, you should focus on: - Enjoy the learning process - Become world-class at the basics - Absorb information from top performers - Build relationships with candidates & clients - Grind your Business Development skills - Become a proficient with your CRM - Repetition, repetition, repetition...
