Thanks to Freeway Florida Ministries for inviting Recovery Connections to be a part of such a meaningful event!! Freeway Florida is a ministry that offers housing for those coming out of prison and jail and a free weekly service for those on the streets or stuck in addiction seeking help. The “SAVE OUR CITY” event was 3 days of celebration and education and addressed the drug overdose and addiction problem that is plaguing our city and encourage all those attending that there is HOPE. Organizations and ministries from all over Central Florida will come together to share resources for those seeking help and spread awareness to others about how they can help. #recoverycommunity #recoveryispossible #overdoseawareness #wedorecover

This year's CIT Banquet was sponsored by NAMI and hosted by Aspire at UCF. This event was held in appreciation of the organizations that provide Crisis Intervention Block Training to local law enforcement and corrections personnel. The event also recognized individual law enforcement and corrections officers that excelled in Crisis Intervention techniques in the course of their duties. One of our amazing volunteers here at Recovery Connections has decided to share her most recent story of success. Over the last two and half years Kortnie has walked to work every day. She planned out which school and which daycare was closest to her sober living or work to make the walk as easy as possible for both herself and her son. Despite the challenge Kortnie has spent this time saving up as much money as possible, her ultimate goal being to buy a car outright and have no car payment to worry about. Her hard work and dedication finally paid off and she was able to buy a Honda Civic. She is most excited to be able to finally enroll her son to play on a soccer team as she can now get him to and from practice and games. We are so proud of Kortnie and cannot wait to see what she achieves next! #CommunityImpact #recoveryispossible #Gratitude #recoverywin #volunteerappreciation

This event is to provide resources to inmates who are soon to be released back into the community.
