Professionals in Recovery Spotlight: Jill walked through the doors of Recovery Centers of America at Lighthouse on July 11, 2016, feeling hopeless and overwhelmed. As patient number 561, she experienced doubt and frustration, often questioning the guidance she received. Yet, she was always met with kindness—a staff member or fellow patient were always there to listen and offer support. RCA's atmosphere of understanding and healing was new to her, and at times, she resisted it. However, on August 26, 2016, Jill left those doors sober for the first time in years. During this pivotal time in her life, Jill worked tirelessly to develop coping skills, navigate the expectations of her sober house, and address the consequences of her addiction. RCA remained a constant in her recovery, as she returned for Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) sessions and open H&I meetings. These gatherings provided a safe space where she could reconnect with staff who had supported her through her darkest moments. After completing IOP, Jill became more involved in her home group within a 12-step fellowship and began facilitating the meetings that had been so vital to her early recovery. This connection allowed her to give back while maintaining a strong presence at RCA Lighthouse. In March 2018, it was no surprise when her resume and application appeared; she had found her place among the staff. As Alumni Coordinator at RCA Lighthouse, Jill takes pride in connecting individuals transitioning from inpatient treatment to a thriving sober community. The RCA Alumni Association, built on the principles of succeed, belong, and serve, offers a range of in-person and hybrid meetings, sober events for individuals and their families, and so much more. Yesterday, in partnership with RC Clothing and Greatest Hope Outreach, our Enterprise Support Center came together to assemble “blessing bags” for those in need in Philadelphia. These bags contain essential hygiene items like shampoo, soap, toothbrushes, and toothpaste, along with warm socks, hats, gloves, and snacks such as energy bars and Gatorade. Additionally, we prepared bags of clothing that include beanies, hoodies, and long-sleeve t-shirts. Each bag also holds “notes of hope” and information on community resources. Thank you to everyone who participated in making this possible!

This Veterans Day, we’re raising awareness about the vital importance of accessible addiction treatment for veterans and active duty service members. Recovery Centers of America's RESCU program is a confidential addiction treatment program designed specifically for active military, veterans, and first responders. The benefits of this program include: ?? Dedicated primary therapists – An expert team who are specifically trained on military culture, treating SUD among the U.S. military, and issues facing first responders. ?? Disclosure options – Patients decide on a disclosed or non-disclosed approach. If disclosed, all command structure requirements will be strictly followed. ?? Tailored curriculum – Our program is an evidence-based, present-focused therapy model, emphasizing the interconnectedness of trauma and substance use and focusing on coping skills, safety strategies, and developing healthy relationships. ?? Boarding and patient interaction options – We maintain a separate unit in our facility with separate programming, but also offer the option to participate in group sessions with other RCA patients as appropriate. ?? Military rank discretion – Patients choose if they wish for their rank to be disclosed within the community. We will only include rank if this was indicated as a preference.
