The initiative reflects the government's commitment to enhancing prosecutorial resources, supporting evidence management, and ensuring taxpayer money is reclaimed from financial criminals. Attorney-General Richard Hermer highlighted this investment as a crucial step in fighting financial fraud and supporting victims. Mpox Case Detected in Kerala: Second Confirmed Case in India Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Wednesday confirmed India’s second Mpox, or monkeypox case. The patient has been isolated, the state has said and is being treated by established medical protocols. Health Minister Veena George said a 38-year-old man from Malappuram had tested positive after returning from the United Arab Emirates. She said the man, on noticing symptoms, acted correctly by isolating himself from his family and was then hospitalized at the state-run Manjeri Medical College. In a post on Facebook Ms George also urged the public to seek treatment and inform the Health Department if they displayed any of the known symptoms. India reported its first case – a young man, who had traveled from western Africa – tested positive in Delhi. He too is stable and has been isolated to prevent the virus from spreading. There is no indication of widespread risk to the public at this time, the government said. MUMBAI ACCIDENT: TWO KILLED, THREE INJURED IN SION ROAD COLLISION The Sion Bridge crash killed two guys, Animesh More and Asfaq Ansari, and severely injured three others, Vignesh Sarwade, Amol Kunchikorve, and Mehndi Syed. Amol Kunchikorve and Mehndi Syed were severely injured. It's said Vignesh was driving the wrong way when he hit Asfaq's bike head-on. The impact was so severe that Animesh was thrown off the bridge and both motorcycles were completely crushed. Sion Police rushed immediately to the scene and transported all five injured persons to Sion Hospital for treatment. All injured were transported to Sion Hospital following the accident, which occurred at 4 AM. Vignesh has been charged with negligent driving by the police. ?? Kolkata Rape Case: A Tragic Incident that Shook the Nation The recent tragic case of the rape and murder of a 31-year-old trainee doctor at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata has shaken the entire nation. Incident Details: On the night of August 8-9, 2024, the female doctor, a second-year postgraduate trainee, was on duty at R.G. Kar Medical College and Hospital. After finishing her work, she retired to a seminar hall to rest due to a lack of adequate resting space in the hospital. The next morning, her colleagues found her body in a semi-nude state in the seminar hall. The condition in which the body was found raised immediate suspicions of foul play, and it was later confirmed that she had been raped and murdered. 1. Autopsy Findings The autopsy report revealed shocking details about the brutality of the crime. It indicated severe injuries to her body, particularly around the genital area, suggesting the possibility of gang rape. The report also mentioned the presence of semen, which further fueled suspicions of multiple perpetrators being involved in the crime. Additionally, it was noted that the doctor had sustained injuries that could not have been inflicted by a single person, pointing towards the involvement of a group in the attack. 2. Response and Protests The discovery of the doctor’s body led to an immediate outcry within the medical community. Junior doctors at the hospital went on strike, demanding swift action and justice for their colleagues. The Indian Medical Association (IMA) also launched a nationwide strike in solidarity, which severely impacted non-essential medical services across the country. The strike highlighted the growing concerns about safety within the medical profession, especially for female healthcare workers. 3.
