Yesterday, we had an incredibly insightful and inspiring training day with our Coaches. It was a day full of meaningful discussions, collaborative problem-solving, and a real sense of positivity. We're constantly motivated by our Coaches' dedication and the passion they show in supporting the young people they work with. A huge thank you to Longley Park Sixth Form for hosting and taking such great care of us!

ReconnectEd is a social enterprise set up to help young people at risk of exclusion flourish in mainstream school.
关于我们
ReconnectEd helps young people at risk of exclusion to flourish in mainstream school. ReconnectEd aims to contribute towards a more inclusive society which allows every young person to achieve their potential. ReconnectEd addresses the root causes of school exclusion by delivering a trauma-informed emotion coaching programme to young people facing adversity so that we can strengthen their wellbeing and resilience, support their families and schools to ensure a joined up approach, and facilitate change within the education system. We aim to first improve young people’s wellbeing so that they are better able to learn. ReconnectEd Coaches are recruited from the young people’s communities because they understand the issues the young people face. We reach the young people through Multi-Academy Trusts (‘Trusts’) in areas of deprivation and work in close collaboration with their schools and local stakeholders. ReconnectEd also provides rigorous training and regular supervision for our Coaches to ensure the young people at risk of exclusion can reach their educational potential and the coaches are well supported. ReconnectEd differs from other interventions by providing an intensive approach to helping young people facing adversity over the long-term: ReconnectEd coaches are embedded within the school community and have shared experiences; they meet with the young people daily and ensure a joined-up approach to working with schools, home and local stakeholders. In 2023, our first year of operation, ReconnectEd helped nearly 30 young people in North East Sheffield. We saw: - 100% pupil retention - 100% improvement in the self-regulation of our priority pupils - No permanent exclusions in our cohort - Over 50% decrease in internal exclusions. This week is #ChildrensMentalHeathWeek and Place2Be are exploring the theme of Know Yourself, Grow Yourself, which resonates deeply with the work we do. Empowering young people to understand their emotions and build resilience is crucial, and it's at the core of our Coaching Programme. Our collaboration with STEER Education and EMOTION COACHING UK is particularly relevant in this context. It equips our Coaches to delve deeper into the individual experiences of each young person they support, understand their feelings and beliefs, and guide them towards self-reflection and self-regulation. Ultimately, our goal is to enable our young people to reach their full potential. #MentalHealth #Pastoralcare #Coaching #EmotionCoaching

We are so excited to announce that at the start of November we became a Charity! This conversion from a Community Interest Company to a Charitable Incorporated Organisation is an exciting next step for us, it will open up new opportunities and allow us to help more young people. We are delighted to introduce our four Founding Trustees. Aidan Thompson, our Chair, Esther Ujah, Peter Voisey and Katy Granville-Chapman. We are incredibly lucky to have such an experienced, committed and supportive Board of Trustees, you can see more about our Trustees on our website. We recently had our first Trustees meeting and Central Advisory Group meeting, and we are so excited to see what the New Year will hold for us!

Merry Christmas from ReconnectEd’s young people!??? As part of our ‘Expanding Horizon’s Project’, some of our pupils have been taking part in a 10 week ‘early intervention’ crafts project to develop their artistic skills, confidence and engagement, run by Dawn Ireland, a professional artist. These are the Christmas cards our young people made during their last session. Dawn told us: “I’ve seen them become more confident with using different materials and although to begin with some were hesitant to try, saying they couldn’t draw, or couldn’t sew, they all had a go and enjoyed it. Some were really proud of what they had made. Over the weeks I’ve seen a positive change in these amazing young people. They have so much potential. I will miss working with them”. We are so grateful to The Radcliffe Trust?for funding this project. It’s so important to us that we can offer these ‘positive growth mindset’ activities to our young people.?Drawing on established research, through this project we aimed to improve engagement with learning through strengths-based activities to reinforce and open up new neural pathways. We also aimed for the ReconnectEd pupils to develop critical life skills such as team work, leadership and independent learning. The practical nature of working alongside a professional artist will help the children to attain transferable skills such as independent working, teamwork and creativity.
