At Rec2Connect, we are devoted to utilizing fully inclusive recreation therapy programs to connect people with and without disabilities and their families to community recreation, wellness, and lifelong leisure skills. We are dedicated to developing life-long skills, promoting access to recreation, and increasing community inclusion for people with and without disabilities and their families to enhance their quality of life. We utilize standardized assessments to identify our client’s needs, interests, and abilities, then use those assessments to develop individualized goals. We meet individuals where they are, and use their interests and preferences to customize programs. We also work with a variety of local agencies to assist with funding for our programs. Rec2Connect’s team consists of professionals from a variety of backgrounds and skill sets. Our team includes Recreation Therapists, Intervention Specialists, and Special Education Teachers. All of our team members have a passion for providing goal-driven and meaningful recreation therapy services in a community setting. All staff members complete Rec2Connect specialized training in therapeutic, procedural, and aquatic therapy prior to starting with clients. We work together to continue to grow and learn as a team, to be up-to-date on new practices and standards, and create a positive and supportive environment for all.

We're rounding out February, but still celebrating Recreation Therapy Month!?Today's spotlight is about Evin, who participates in Rec2Connect's Rock Climbing and Kayaking Programs! Evin was first introduced to Rec2Connect at their local rec center. He saw Rec2Connect therapists and specialists in action with participants, and knew he wanted to be a part of our programs! "We started with kayaking. Evin grew quickly in his ability to navigate a trainer kayak independently, which skyrocketed his confidence. He proudly shared with anyone, all summer, that he was learning to kayak. Being able to participate in an activity that would not ordinarily be available to him gave him so much pride. Being afforded the opportunity to try another class, Evin was hooked on climbing. Having the caliber of people guiding, supporting and cheering him on is the difference for both of us. This has been a therapy that works with Evin and provides him new skills, without ever feeling like 'work.'" - Amy, Evin's Mom We'll always cheer Evin on, and we're grateful to see how far he has come because of recreation therapy!?Happy Recreation Therapy Month!
