关于我们
Over thirty years ago in Midland, Texas, the idea for Rebuilding Together was born. Known then as Christmas in April, Rebuilding Together supported single women in their community by providing minor home repairs. It has since grown to facilitate home repairs to thousands of low-income homeowners year-round. Robert Moisan established the North Texas affiliate of Rebuilding Together in 2001 after he saw the great need in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. As a 501(c)(3), Rebuilding Together North Texas restores hope and revitalizes neighborhoods by bringing volunteers and communities together to repair homes and rebuild the lives of low-income homeowners. We enhance the safety, health, and quality of life for veterans, veteran widows, seniors, families with minor children, and people with disabilities by providing free home repair using volunteers and professionals throughout North Texas. Together we are strengthening the Denton, Dallas, Tarrant, Collin, and Rockwall counties to build a brighter future for North Texas. As a national organization, Rebuilding Together is a leading nonprofit in safe and healthy housing with more than 40 years of experience. Across the country Rebuilding Together’s affiliates and nearly 100,000 volunteers complete about 10,000 rebuild projects each year.

This #BlackHistoryMonth, we’re shining a light on Cedar Crest, one of Dallas’s historic Black communities. A neighborhood rich in culture, resilience, and history, Cedar Crest has been home to generations of Black families who have built businesses, raised families, and created a strong sense of community. ?? But like many historically Black neighborhoods, Cedar Crest has faced challenges—aging homes, limited access to resources, and the lasting effects of past discriminatory policies. That’s why Rebuilding Together North Texas has made Cedar Crest a priority neighborhood, ensuring that families can stay in their homes safely and with dignity. ?? By investing in home repairs and revitalization efforts, we’re working to honor the legacy of Cedar Crest while building a stronger future. ?? Do you have family history in Cedar Crest or another historic Black neighborhood? Share your story in the comments! #CedarCrestDallas #BlackHistoryMonth #RebuildingTogether #SafeHomesStrongCommunities #PreservingLegacy

?? Homeownership is one of the biggest drivers of generational wealth, yet Black families have historically faced barriers to buying, maintaining, and passing down homes. Many of the homeowners we serve have lived in their homes for generations, holding onto family history, culture, and community ties despite systemic challenges. Our work ensures these homes remain safe, livable, and energy-efficient—so families can pass them down to future generations. ?? What does home mean to you? ?? Fair housing laws were a step forward, but disparities in homeownership, lending, and home repairs remain. Black homeowners are more likely to live in aging homes that need major repairs—yet often lack access to the resources to fix them. At Rebuilding Together North Texas, we’re working to bridge that gap by providing critical home repairs, energy efficiency upgrades, and accessibility modifications—because safe and healthy housing should be a right, not a privilege. ??
