Think before you take— #OnePillCanKill. ? An #NCIS Investigator recently briefed United States Naval Academy midshipmen on the dangers of fentanyl and other illicit narcotics as they prepared to leave for spring break. Even one counterfeit pill can have deadly consequences. This drug and alcohol awareness briefing kicked off a week-long information campaign by NCIS and the Naval Academy, equipping midshipmen with the knowledge to make safe choices, recognize the risks of illicit drug use, and report suspicious activity. ? If you have information on suspected drug activity, report it to NCIS via the NCIS Tips app or at?www.ncis.navy.mil. Reports can be made anonymously. ? #StaySafe #NCISTips

Welcome to the Official LinkedIn page for the Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS). #PeopleFirstMissionAlways Within the Department of the Navy, NCIS is the civilian federal law enforcement agency uniquely responsible for investigating felony crime, preventing terrorism and protecting secrets for the Navy and Marine Corps. Comprised of approximately 2000 personnel, with more than half serving as federal Special Agents, NCIS is unique among U.S. military criminal investigative organizations as it is a civilian-run agency and is headed by a civilian law enforcement professional who reports directly to the Secretary of the Navy. Today, NCIS operates in approximately 191 locations, in more than 41 countries. Given the organization's worldwide forward presence, NCIS is often the first federal law enforcement agency on the scene when U.S. interests overseas are affected. In addition to serving at major naval commands around the world, NCIS Special Agents deploy aboard all Navy aircraft carriers and with amphibious task forces. NCIS agents routinely conduct advances before U.S. Navy ships visit non-Navy ports, working with domestic and foreign counterparts to identify and mitigate security threats. NCIS also conducts protective service operations for senior naval officials and visiting dignitaries. NCIS Professional Staff personnel comprise the remaining half of our workforce and are vital to our success as an agency. They represent the backbone of our organization in mission essential areas like Intelligence, Polygraph, Forensics, Tech, Communications, Cyber, and Human Resources. ICYMI: A former Navy Sailor recently pleaded guilty in federal court to conspiring to attack Naval Station Great Lakes on behalf of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps while he was on active duty. #NCIS and Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Chicago Joint Terrorism Task Force aggressively investigated this activity using undercover operatives to prevent a potential attack and ensuring maximum accountability. The defendant now faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison. NCIS remains committed to safeguarding our Navy and Marine Corps communities from terrorism threats to our warfighters. “This international joint terrorism investigation required a massive effort by the FBI and the NCIS Office of Special Projects to conduct surveillance, execute search warrants, utilize undercover techniques and review many gigabytes of computer data. Mitigating these increasingly complex terrorist threats is not something that NCIS, or the federal government, or any one law enforcement agency, can do alone, which is why we remain committed to working with our law enforcement partners to eliminate criminal, terrorist or counterintelligence threats to our warfighters and their communities.” – NCIS Director Omar Lopez ?? #NCIS, U.S. Department of Justice, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Washington Field Office, U.S. Department of State, and U.S. Department of the Treasury announced coordinated efforts?yesterday?to disrupt and deter the malicious cyber activities of 12 Chinese nationals, including officers of the People’s Republic of China’s Ministry of Public Security, employees of a private PRC company, and members of Advanced Persistent Threat 27.? ? A federal judge in Washington, D.C.,?yesterday?unsealed two separate indictments that allege Chinese nationals Yin Kecheng, 38, a/k/a “YKC” and Zhou Shuai, 45, a/k/a “Coldface” violated various federal statutes by participating in years-long, sophisticated computer hacking conspiracies that successfully targeted a wide variety of U.S.-based victims from 2011 to the present-day. Arrest warrants have been issued for Yin and Zhou, both of whom remain fugitives. ? In July 2021, the NCIS Cyber Operations Field Office received notification of an intrusion into the network of an aerospace technology company that holds defense contracts. Analysis of the affected servers by NCIS revealed that malicious cyber actors likely employed by the Chinese government had targeted multiple U.S. Cleared Defense Contractors that had been awarded over $710 million in contracts by the US Navy and United States Marine Corps. ? “The defendants’ years-long hacking conspiracy to steal data from cleared defense contractors that support the U.S. military—among many other U.S.-based victims—and sell it to customers with ties to the Chinese government poses a significant threat to our national security. NCIS remains committed to working with the FBI and our law enforcement partners around the world to expose malicious actors who seek to undermine the cybersecurity of the Department of the Navy.” – NCIS Cyber Operations Field Office Special Agent in Charge Josh Stanley ? ???Read more:?https://lnkd.in/eG_4NPEg
