On April 15, 2019, a devastating fire engulfed the iconic Notre-Dame cathedral in Paris, causing extensive damage and raising fears about the future of this historic landmark. An unexpected ally emerged - video game developer Ubisoft whose team had meticulously recreated Notre-Dame for their 2014 game Assasin’s Creed Unity. Ubisoft announced a donation of €500,000 to the restoration efforts and offered their highly detailed 3D scans and models of Notre-Dame to architects and engineers. This virtual reconstruction, created through years of research and artistic dedication, became an invaluable resource for ensuring an accurate restoration.
