Really Good Emails (also known as "RGE") is a website that curates and showcases examples of effective email design and marketing. Over the past decade, we've brought in millions of visitors who look to get inspired for their next campaign or learn something new. In early 2024, Beefree came along and acquired us to make the site even better. Together, we're on a path to make the process of inspiration to creation much easier.

Email O’ Limb Pics. Let the celebrations begin. Every couple of years we see email creators demonstrate how to use their limbs when showing off a product. We salute them. With our limbs. And our words. Years of training go into this. Or maybe no training. All we know is that these campaign pictures are inspiring (except one or two that just slid over the line at the end.) #emailmarketing
Maybe you have a cool team-building exercise where you do trust-falls. But do these include you taking your shirts off? I am pretty sure that HR would disapprove... unless they were the ones promoting it in the first place. Here's what we learned last week when pictures of our "team bonding" activities surfaced online (and what we plan to do with them). #TeamBuilding #SunsOut #EmailMarketing
We'd like to publicly apologize for last week's email. We made some enemies. And that's not good because these enemies know much more about the law than we do. Anyways, the moral of the story is to keep your legal team happy. And maybe not call their emails boring. #emailmarketing
We super-glued our team's bums to their chairs in a room without sunlight for ten years and told them to collect as many beautiful emails as possible. Their jeans are ruined but we now have over 15,000 in a massive swipe file called "Really Good Emails." It's got everything. Seriously. Want in on this behemoth database? We're giving away access for free. There are two methods to get it: Method 1 needs: 1. A human face. 2. 8 glasses of water. 3. A unicorn horn blessed by a talking woodland creature. 4. A geospatial tracking unit for multidimensional time travel. 5. The skills of all the characters from Ocean's Eleven. 6. A LinkedIn account (doesn't even need to be yours) to like, follow, and comment on this so that we can boost this post "organically." Method 2 needs: A browser that can go to our website called ReallyGoodEmails(dot)com. Method 2 is way easier, but we won't stop you if you have all the stuff for Method 1.
Well, this is embarrassing. At RGE, we like to track stuff. Because that's what email people do. We track subscribers. We track unsubscribers. We track emails added to RGE. We track what emails are popular on our site. We track our phones when we leave it in a stall after using it to track things while we were in that stall. But we really wish we didn't track our announcement last week. Now we have to figure out things to make up for it.
FOR KIND-OF-IMMEDIATE RELEASE A Decade of Mediocrity Triumphantly Culminates in Acquisition Silicon Valley, CA – Today marks a milestone (hopefully a historic milestone) as Beefree.io, known for its relentless pursuit of email creation, officially announces its acquisition of Really Good Emails, LLC (also known as RGE and way easier to write for this press release). RGE is a strangely popular email inspiration site that’s been online for a decade and was often referred to as “the only place to get email ideas because no one else with a life would truly spend their free time curating emails.” After an arduous 10-year saga of cataloging over 15,000 emails, founders Matthew Smith, Mike Nelson, Matt Helbig, and Matthew Cook of RGE have finally decided to learn what "real hobbies" look like instead of using their nights and weekends building features, running the site, and launching events. By joining Beefree.io and having resources at their disposal, they can now do the things they always dreamed of doing with someone else’s cash and employee base. “We’ve been plugging away at this thing for so long, our children started referring to RGE as ‘dad’s favorite kid’,” jokes Mike, who recently discovered his son’s name is not Buddy, but actually Max. Smith, who launched the site in 2014, chimed in, expressing his elation over the acquisition: “I’ve been told there are ways to have human relationships that don’t involve email — I’m interested in exploring this brave new world.” His girlfriend agreed, having to appeal to him with CTAs to get him to take action on anything. This acquisition is not just a new chapter for the founders, but a brave new world that involves thwarting red-tape processes, pranking legal reviews, and tearing down corporate ladders in classic RGE style. Unfortunately, Beefree, already being fairly anti-corporate, takes all the fun out of these ambitions. “I’m just excited that there will be another group of people to take the blame for once,” added Cook. Further excitement will ensue as RGE taps into Beefree’s technology team, making the whole inspiration-to-creation flow an enjoyable and satisfying experience (finally!) Beefree’s CEO, Massimo Arrigoni, stated, “We are thrilled to bring Really Good Emails into the fold. Their track record of sustained mediocrity is just the kind of challenge we relish. Plus, their software, like ours, occasionally works and has attracted millions of email creators, which is a nice bonus.” The deal, which closed on April 15, 2024, will bring the two companies together to integrate their user bases and platforms. There will also probably be some use of AI in the future, as a way to appease the robot overlords preemptively. The founders (and their families) look forward to their next big adventure: having lives. (What a novel concept.) For instance, Matt Helbig, new to Los Angeles, discovered a new sunscreen for people who've not been outside in 10 years. Apparently, it's SPF 100(to the 10th).
Super excited to announce that Beefree has acquired Really Good Emails ?????? If you’re in the #email space, you’ve visited?reallygoodemails.com.?I’ve been a big fan for years ?? There’s nothing like seeing fantastic messages designed by some of the world's best brands to inspire you. And how about the RGE newsletters? Witty, funny, and packed with great articles and best practices. So when Mike Nelson, one of the RGE co-founders, reached out months ago, I was all ears. Mike and his partners had been volunteering their time on the RGE project for almost ten years and had decided that it was time to switch gears. To deliver more value to their customers, they needed more time, money, and full-time focus. We started talking and sharing ideas and a vision for the future of RGE. There was a lot of alignment. We believed then—and even more now—that a collaboration between RGE and Beefree could make the art and science of email creation more accessible, more inspiring, and more fun ?? ? > If you’re an RGE fan and have never heard of Beefree, our goal is to shorten your path from inspiration to creation. We'll integrate RGE and Beefree. We’ll start small and get fancier over time. > If you’re a Beefree fan: you’ve seen the 1,700+ templates in our?catalog. Now, we’ll leverage the 15,000+ designs on the RGE site to add more inspiration and creative superpowers to your email design process. The key point is this: by bringing together RGE's vast email catalog with Beefree's intuitive design tools, we will provide new ways for you to close the gap between finding inspiration and creating something valuable from it. While that’s in the future, there are things we can start delivering today. * First, the Pro features on?the RGE website?become FREE for all, starting immediately ?? * Secondly,?#Unspam?is back this week in Greenville, SC. It was hard for an all-volunteer team to host and grow this special email event. We’re excited to support it and help it grow. Justine Jordan - Head of Strategy & Community at Beefree - is co-hosting Unspam 2024?in her own, authentic way ?? * Third, I'm very happy to welcome Mike Nelson and Matt Helbig from RGE to the Beefree team. They have a lot of innovative ideas around the future of Really Good Emails, and we can’t wait to work together. Matthew Smith and Matt Cook, the other two co-founders, will help as strategic advisors. ?? I know it’s cliché to say it, but we truly believe this is a case where the whole has a real chance of being greater than the sum of the parts. Our tools - combined - will deliver a greater amount of value to you. Our community efforts - combined - will have a greater impact. ?? Give us a bit of time to execute all of this, and please keep us honest as we do so. Cheers, Massimo
