Last week, five Reality Changers students participanted in the Old Mission Rotary Club's Four-Way Speech Contest; an annual tradition that asks students to consider how they have applied the values of truth, fairness, kindness, and generosity to challenges in their own lives. Congratulations to our winner, Camila, who will proceed to the next round! And thank you to the Old Mission Rotary Club for sharing this opportunity with our students year after year. #publicspeaking #rotary #4waytest #firstgen #community

Reality Changers prepares youth to become first generation college graduates and agents of change in their community.
关于我们
At Reality Changers, we believe that college changes everything. Our mission is to prepare youth to become first generation college graduates and agents of change in their communities. Our vision is equitable and universal access to education. Since our inception, program graduates have earned over $140,000,000 in scholarships to attend institutions such as UCSD, Brown, Columbia, Dartmouth, Duke, Harvard, Princeton, Stanford, UC Berkeley, and UCLA (among other top-25 institutions), including 29 Gates Millennium Scholarship recipients. Reality Changers fills the special need of providing hope to students in Southern California’s toughest communities. Students in our communities may not have it easy, but this shouldn't prevent them from becoming first generation college students. Our theory of change is that when low-income, high-potential students are given the mechanisms and support to envision a better future for themselves, they will become more confident, capable, and motivated to enroll and succeed in college and career.

We'd like to thank the Masons of California, a Diamond Level sponsor of our upcoming Ripple Effect Gala on April 11. More info: https://lnkd.in/gezvjxe7 Last year, because of delays with financial aid and college decisions, graduating high school seniors were not able to recieve t-shirts representing their new colleges. The Masons of California stepped in to provide each student with a special "Class of 2024" shirt to help celebrate their accomplishments. The group also supports scholarships for Reality Changers students. These scholarships target applicants who have overcome significant barriers and face difficult challenge, ensuring that they have an equal opportunity to pursue college. #TheRippleEffect #gratitude #community #partnership #firstgen

Last week, our team worked together with Stephanny, a Masters of Social Work student at SDSU, to host a workshop on healthy relationships. This topic is especially important as students transition from living at home to living on a college campus. #healthyrelationships #adulting #collegelife #firstgen
