Meet our February Member of the Month, Veronica Vu! "I have been a member of REIC since my sophomore year and it has been an incredible journey! I love learning from industry professionals, networking with like-minded peers and gaining hands-on experience in real estate. Every meeting and event brings something new and valuable! Without a doubt, my favorite experience so far has been the Chicago Spring Trip 2024! It was an unforgettable opportunity to visit different real estate firms, gain insights from industry professionals and bond with the REIC E-board and fellow members."

We have more internships to showcase! Our REIC members have put in tremendous effort to secure prestigious internships this summer. Through networking, skills gained in the club, and relentless hard work, they’ve earned these exciting opportunities. Congratulations to them! We’re eager to see all they accomplish. The REIC members featured are Jonathon Biter (Revantage, A Blackstone Portfolio Company), Evan Hackstock (Little Caesars Pizza), and Joseph Nolan (PwC).

These students will be working at NAI Wisinski of West Michigan, Davidson Hospitality Group, BAM Capital, Calder Capital, Simtob Management & Investment, Lument, and Harrison Street.

Our Director of Communications, Daniel Khoury, led an insightful REIC meeting on residential real estate, covering essential topics such as how to obtain a real estate license, the best strategies for generating leads, and key tips for building a successful career in the industry. He also discussed how having a real estate license can open doors to other opportunities within the field, including recruitment for various real estate careers. This past week, four REIC members had the privilege of attending the ALIS Conference in Los Angeles. They made the most of this incredible experience by participating in an MSU Alumni networking event, taking part in a panel discussion featuring top executives from leading companies, and attending a variety of seminars focused on hospitality real estate. #alisconference

This week, REIC had the pleasure of welcoming Patrick R. from Stream Realty Partners. It was inspiring to hear his journey and insights into exciting projects shaping the real estate landscape. Thank you, Patrick, for sharing your time and expertise with us!

Last night, we hosted an internship panel featuring our E-board members and students who have interned across various sectors of the real estate industry. They shared valuable advice, answered questions, and offered firsthand accounts of their internship experiences. The panel covered a range of topics, including effective strategies for securing real estate internships, an inside look at the day-to-day responsibilities and learning opportunities from recent interns, and an open Q&A session for personalized guidance. It was an engaging and informative event that provided our members with practical tips and inspiration for their own career paths in real estate. Alex Salloum from REDICO was our guest speaker. Alex shared invaluable insights into the senior housing industry and discussed strategies for gaining value in this growing sector. Alex’s presentation covered key trends, opportunities, and best practices in senior housing development, offering attendees a comprehensive understanding of this dynamic market. Thank you, Alex!

Thank you to everyone who donated to Habitat for Humanity Capital Region through the REIC fundraiser at Barrio Tacos! We were able to join together and raise over $200 for this amazing organization that supports our community members.

At our meeting on 10/16, we had the honor of hosting Bradley Simtob from Simtob Management & Investment. Brad shared his insights on the challenging world of real estate, highlighting the ups and downs of the industry. He dove into his journey as a multifamily investor, focusing on the transformation of C class properties through renovation.
