The best compliment I ever got... "You really see me." This compliment was actually given to my good friend?Sylvie Paradis, PCC,?at the end of her sewing class of all places. An older woman sitting next to her, someone she hadn't talked to all that much, turned to her at the end of the day and told her that she was the nicest person she had ever met. Think about that for a minute. The nicest person this woman ever met actually equated to someone who saw her. After a little processing, Sylvie, who is celebrating 14 years of coaching, told me this felt like it summarized her life's mission: to truly see people and be fully present for all those she comes into contact with. This resonated with me and how I want to be showing up like nobody's business. After recently attending the Real Leaders Inc. Unite conference in San Diego (a must for any impact CEO out there), I received a few lovely notes from people I spent some time with: open, warm, honest energy, authentic, a willingness to be vulnerable, ask such great questions. Despite the heaviness of the political climate, everyone was arriving with, I intentionally decided to be fully present, insatiably curious, and hold space for whatever people needed—and this, in every possible interaction. It costs not one penny to be present for someone, to truly see them, to listen to them, and to show them how much you care. Yet the value of these simple gestures is immeasurable. Don't do it for the compliment. Do it because you care. Do it because this act of love is more needed than ever. And throw in a hug for bonus points! ?? We can do this! #presence #Iseeyou
