In this piece, Readymag’s head of design Alexander Moskovskiy highlights three core distinctions of the tool that encourage out-of-the-box thinking. See why it’s ideal for design experiments and check out a few inspiring examples: 1. Complete compositional freedom You can put anything anywhere in any order and any size. This is the main principle of Readymag’s layout, and is 90% of success in working with typography, composition, and finding new meanings. Compositional freedom doesn't limit your thinking to traditional web design and lets your creativity flow in any possible route. Take https://lnkd.in/eCXDXZr2 as an example. 2. Interchangeable animations for interactivity The classic web is built on scrolling—most websites are pages you scroll down. Standard websites have limited animation functionality, allowing for the simplest animations or videos that can only be turned on and off. In contrast, with Readymag’s multi-step animations, you’re no longer just following a structure, but directing a movie or designing game-like interactions. Plus, you get access to the Lottie widget, the Shots widget, and direct video upload with customization options. Explore https://alexvalcarcel.pe/ by Alexandro Valcarcel as a reference. 3. The interface as an extension of the workbench If you’re driving a car, it’s worth learning what a button does before you press it. If you’re doing a project in Readymag, sometimes it’s beneficial to just press a button and see what happens—the interface is designed to guide you to try new things. The tool is an integral part of any creative process, providing the foundation to expand your experiment. Check out Guiding Principles Behind the Readymag? Last week, I participated as a speaker at the Readymag Meetup in Barcelona. It was an unforgettable experience to share the stage with inspiring professionals like Matías Dumont, Jun Ioneda, and Readymag’s Head of Product Mikhail Nikolaev, each of them showcasing groundbreaking ideas and creative processes. The event was more than just a presentation; it was a celebration of creativity, connection, and learning ??. Sharing my journey and insights with such a passionate and talented community of designers and creatives was truly humbling. During my talk, I explored the introspective process of building a personal brand and portfolio—a journey that often requires us to confront creative blocks, ask ourselves the tough questions, and ultimately, redefine our professional paths. I shared insights from my work at Portafolio Project, where I help creatives authentically express their vision through strategic portfolio and web design. I also highlighted how the collaborative spaces and resources I create with my clients and students empower them to share their stories and passions through their portfolios, transforming this process into an opportunity for growth and clarity. ?? Key takeaways: - Building a portfolio is an opportunity for self-reflection and professional alignment. - Creative blocks can be stepping stones to discovering who we are and where we want to go. - Collaboration, resources, and the right tools (like Readymag) can make the process smoother and more rewarding. Thank you to Readymag for fostering such a vibrant creative community and providing a platform that allows designers to craft authentic, impactful digital stories. I left this event inspired and even more committed to supporting others on their creative journeys. To anyone working on their portfolio: Take the leap. Start somewhere, anywhere, just start!!! As a part of our customer stories, we spoke with IDEO.org, a nonprofit design studio with a mission to build a better, more inclusive world. They partner with social enterprises, governments, and NGOs to design products, services, and experiences that lead to better health, economic opportunities, and wellbeing in communities. Here’s why they chose Readymag to showcase their work: IDEO.org rolled out an impact report (https://impact.ideo.org/) as a public measure of their work over the past decade. “I think we probably used every possible tool available on Readymag. I would say the visual style of the report is very editorial. We used a combination of collages, videos, and photography to celebrate the diversity of our projects and the people we work with,” says Joan Encarnacion, senior communication designer at IDEO.org. “Readymag provides our visual designers with complete freedom in how the flow of a story can be structured, as well as opportunities for interesting compositions, typographic expression, and the use of animation,” says Kristin Riger, design director at IDEO.org at the time. “The ability to prototype page flows and navigational structures in Readymag was crucial to the design process, particularly in terms of merging visual design and content development as well as receiving design critique from outside parties. Instead of viewing page mock-ups, we were able to see how the story was evolving on the platform,” Joan Encarnacion adds. Read more by the link: https://lnkd.in/eaC2Skjn
