We are deeply saddened to share the passing of David Thun, a cherished member of the Reading Hospital family and the Berks County community. An industrialist by trade and philanthropist at heart, David served as a volunteer and board member for many organizations, including Reading Hospital and Reading Hospital Foundation, always championing our hospital’s mission. The Thun family’s deep connection to Reading Hospital began with David’s grandfather, Ferdinand Thun, one of the visionaries behind our hospital’s founding. The Thun-Janssen Auditorium stands as a tribute to their legacy. Our heartfelt condolences go to his wife, Barbara, and the entire Thun family. May his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
