关于我们
Reading Connections is a non-profit literacy agency based in Guilford County, North Carolina. Since 1990 we have pursued our mission of providing and advocating for free, individualized adult literacy services to promote life changes for Guilford County residents and surrounding communities. In our more than 30 year history, we have trained thousands of volunteers to provide one-to-one and small-group literacy instruction for adults and families. Our programs include adult basic education, English for speakers of other languages, family literacy, workplace literacy, computer literacy, and GED preparation.

A big congratulations to Reading Connections on their recent Advanced Manufacturing Cohort! Chloe Wooten and I were thrilled to partner with Reading Connections for their Interview Day with the talented students from the Advanced Manufacturing program. Getting to speak with these students and allowing them to showcase their skills, determination, and passion for the future of the workforce and manufacturing was nothing short of inspiring. This cohort represents the perfect example of collaboration between education and industry. Reading Connections and Forge Greensboro has truly set the bar high, fostering innovation and preparing these students to make a significant impact in the workforce. At TRC Talent Solutions, we are proud to support initiatives like this that drive the next generation of talent, bridge workforce gaps, and elevate the manufacturing industry as a whole. Thank you so much to Barbie Patterson for getting us involved. Congratulations again to everyone involved, and a special shoutout to the students who are shaping the future! At Reading Connections, our goal is to provide adult learners with every opportunity to succeed. This includes creating a welcoming space where they can attend classes and receive the support they need to improve their English skills, prepare for their GED, or gain new workplace skills. This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to give the gift of learning by helping us enhance our classroom. Your contribution will help us purchase tables, chairs, whiteboards, and other resources to make our classroom more inviting and better equipped to meet the needs of our learners. Additionally, this improved space will be made available to our nonprofit partners at no cost for meetings and workshops. Thanks to a generous anonymous donor, we have the chance to double your impact! If we raise $2,500, the donor will match it with another $2,500—doubling the value of every dollar you give. Join us in creating a lasting gift of learning for our students. Together, we can transform lives for a lifetime.

Thursday, November 14 is our Adult Literacy World Cafe. Come share your thoughts, ideas, concerns, opportunities...anything! Our collective voice will create partnerships, collaboration and solutions. The event is free. Space is limited, and you must RSVP.

Join us November 14th for a community conversation about adult literacy. One in five adults in our community cannot read or write above a third-grade level. Not only does this affect their quality of life, but it impacts our community in ways you may not have considered. Come learn how we can all move the needle on literacy in Guilford County.
