    #Chilipalooza Part 1: Breaking the Breakout Session Mold + Smart Gifting at Events I’m kicking off a three-part review of Chilipalooza—because there’s way too much goodness to fit into one post. First up: how Chili Piper nailed breakout sessions and allowed us to connect on event strategy like gifting. ?? I’m here in Carefree, Arizona (yes, that’s really the name, and yes, I feel carefree), and one of the standout elements was how intentional and thoughtful their breakout sessions were. Instead of cramming in more content, they embraced guided roundtables—structured yet flexible, giving attendees the chance to submit topics they actually wanted to workshop with their peers. The result? More meaningful conversations, stronger connections, and real takeaways. This plays into a question I get a lot: At what point do you minimize sessions and instead create space for networking, collaboration, and attendee-driven discussions? The answer? More often than you think. ?? And let’s talk about gifting. Because a well-executed gift strategy can completely change the event experience. ? Pre-event: Use platforms like Reachdesk to give attendees a choice in how they prep—e.g., sending a $50 credit for sunscreen or a new bathing suit for a desert retreat like this one. A small investment, big impact. ? During the event: Treat your B2B attendees like influencers. A well-done room drop—with items that help them through the week (think reusable water bottles, a hat for sun protection, or something that ties into the event theme)—makes them feel like the star of the show. ? Post-event: This is where you go personal and high-end. A customized follow-up gift that acknowledges their engagement and experience with your brand leaves a lasting impression.
