RE-volv is a climate justice nonprofit that empowers people to bring clean energy to their communities. We do this by providing solar financing to community-serving nonprofits nationwide, while educating the next generation of clean energy professionals. Over the past decade, RE-volv has supported over 70 nonprofits across 18 states make the switch to solar, which moving forward are eligible for Direct Pay tax incentives for nonprofits a part of the Inflation Reduction Act. With a focus on solarizing nonprofits in low-to-middle-income communities and BIPOC communities, we’ve seen real progress toward a just energy transition through solar education and nonprofits reinvesting solar savings into the community.

Earlier this month, OCCIDENTAL ARTS & ECOLOGY CENTER (OAEC) took a huge step towards completing their solar + storage microgrid installation ?? Shout out to Vital Energy Solutions, a local accredited solar installer who led the effort, as we watched the crane lift the battery storage system into place on the farm! With solar energy, OAEC will:? ?? Save over $3M on electricity costs over the lifetime of their system? ? Compensation includes an annual salary commensurate with experience, benefits, and generous paid time off. From the initial nonprofit consultation to helping secure Direct Pay tax credit payments and long-term impact reporting, Sarah supports our nonprofit partners at every step of their solar journey.? ?With a background in public health and administration in the nonprofit sector, Sarah’s drive to aid in creating healthier, more resilient communities inspires her work with RE-volv. ?? When Sarah isn’t advancing nonprofit missions to go solar, she’s diving into the innovation in the solar and sustainability field, listening to the Local Energy Rules podcast from the Institute for Institute for Local Self-Reliance. ?? Outside work, you can find Sarah painting pottery and out on the volleyball court with her team.

Veterans are championing solar energy in South Carolina.??? In honor of Veterans Day, we’re celebrating Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) Post 10804 who went solar with RE-volv in 2018. The VFW provides financial help, job training, and a place to share stories for combat veterans. Post 10804 was the first VFW organization in the country to install solar energy on their building.?? With solar, they will save over $40,000 on their energy bills over the lifetime of the system, allowing the VFW to continue providing services to veterans of foreign wars for years to come. ?? Exciting news from Oakland, CA ??New Hope Baptist Church completed their 14 kW solar array installation last weekend ?? Shoutout to SunWork Renewable Energy Projects, the local accredited solar installer, who led the effort! New Hope's solar system installation is all treats, no tricks this Halloween ?? With solar energy, New Hope Church will:? ?? Save nearly $200K on electricity costs over the lifetime of their system? ?? Avoid emitting 760,000 lbs of CO2 emissions into the local atmosphere? ? Invest their solar savings into their outreach missions, such as tackling food insecurity at a community level with their food pantry and meal offerings. New Hope’s solar journey is part of the BIPOC Houses of Worship Initiative, in partnership with Green The Church, Interfaith Power & Light, National Renewable Energy Laboratory and RE-volv. ??The congregation looks forward to celebrating its solar system with a ribbon cutting ceremony for the community. ?? Hispanic Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the foundational impact the Latinx community has on the history, art, culture, and values of the United States. ?? La Pe?a Cultural Center in Berkeley, California is an internationally recognized community hub dedicated to uplifting cultural traditions and progressive movements rooted in Latin and Hispanic culture. They went solar with RE-volv in 2020, powering their community hub with a 28 kW system.
