AIA Philadelphia does a great job lifting up the good work happening throughout our region, and we're really pleased to be featured as a Design Profile in this fall's issue of Context. When you finish reading our short little profile, take a read through the rest. There're lots of features and good info by friends and collaborators (?? Metcalfe Architecture & Design, LLC and many others!) on the important connections between our work in the built environment and carbon impacts that affect all of us. #AuthenticSustainability #Carbon #RecommendedReading

We love the opportunity to collaborate with people as thoughtful as Lucas Hamilton, who summarized the hours of effort we spent in research, energy modeling, and collaborating on cost and constructability with Warfel Construction Company into this highly digestible snippet. In addition to a better building envelope, this simulated skylight by LIGHTGLASS gave us increased flexibility at the roof to locate equipment and solar panels. It was a win all around, and a great reward for a team committed to inquiry and stepping up to find good solutions to hard challenges. #AuthenticSustainability #BiophilicDesign #BetterBuildingsThroughScience
An interesting tidbit about our Malvern Innovation Center from Lucas Hamilton, Manager of Applied Building Science at Saint-Gobain North America ????????

Heading to ERAPPA next week? Say hey to Scott Kelly, and check out his presentation with Muhlenberg College’s Rick Waligora Monday morning on how to align project teams to make deeply sustainable projects smooth and easy on your campus. They’ll share lessons we learned together on how to navigate a broad and inclusive campus stakeholder group to do LEED, Passive House, and Living Building Challenge on one project. Come Get to Yes with them! #AuthenticSustainability #GettingToYes #GreeningYourCampus

We always try to say 'yes!' to the chance to work with the next generation of leaders in our profession! Scott Kelly and Drew Lavine had a great time last week with future architects from across the nation. Thanks for the opportunity, National Student Leadership Conference!
One of our responsibilities as sustainability practitioners in the built environment is to sew the seeds for our future leaders (and not just preach to the choir).?Last week, Scott Kelly and I had the privilege of talking with over 80 high school students at DesignPhiladelphia selected for the National Student Leadership Conference.?These ambitious students are from all over the country and are interested in going to college for architecture. Our message to them - "You are our future and we believe in you! Keep the pressure on the grown ups that sustainability matters to you in your college selection - and then when you get there demand sustainability education from your professors. A degree in architecture doesn't mean you have to come out designing buildings.?You'll be trained as a design thinker to solve problems - and you can put those skills to work in lots of different ways to support our future sustainable built environment!" #authenticsustainability
