Re:Source Cleveland

Had so much fun shooting this story with the Corner65 media club under Re:Source Cleveland at one of our favorite local businesses! This one features our friends at Mason's Creamery in Ohio City. ?? When we started media club back up at the beginning of the school year for these kids, I wanted to come up with content and ideas that would challenge them - not just in a technical way with their camera and creative eye - but in how they conduct themselves every day. Being out in the field and interacting with people while trying to capture their story forces you to really examine how you conduct yourself in public. How should you dress when you arrive, are you actually listening to the story subject's words, and how do you want them to feel after they've agreed to open up to you? These are all skills I honed as a journalist and ones I want to pass down. Lucky for me, these kids are already so good at it all, naturally. We will be experimenting with more in-the-field shoots and other types of content this year. Stay tuned and watch our latest video below on Facebook ??

If you are like me you might be feeling the need to do something and show that there is more to life than transactional relationships and investment portfolios. You might also be tired of the endless avalanche of misinformation about immigrants. Well here's a super simple way to help out with an immediate connection to newcomer families across Cuyahoga County. Winter driving is harrowing for all of us and is of particular challenge and threat to our newcomers who might be driving in ice and snow for the first time. Important voter information for new U.S. citizens in Ohio! Please share widely within your networks as this is a change from previous policy. If you have not updated your driver's license since becoming a naturalized citizen, you must bring extra identification to vote in the state of Ohio. If your driver's license still says "noncitizen" (written in small letters on the back) but you have received your citizenship, bring your U.S. passport or naturalization papers with you to the polls for proof. Spread the word and exercise your right to vote!

As part of our new Post Secondary Bridges program, 18 of our our junior and senior Teen Response students from both Valley Forge and Normandy high schools of Parma City Schools enjoyed a campus visit to John Carroll University. For many of them it was their first time visiting a university in the US! Students attended an informational session, explored the campus, and experienced college life firsthand, gaining valuable insights into academic programs and campus culture. They particularly loved eating in the dining hall and seeing a former classmate who now studies at John Carroll!

This quarter, the CAB is gathering and distributing winter driving supplies.
