RE-taining stormwater with a bioretention pond! ?? At the Atlanta International School's Sandy Springs Campus, we graded the bioretention pond and slopes, dryed out the subgrade in the pond, scarifyed the bottom of the pond, installed filter media, and directed the water with a concrete flume. All of this will enhance filtration and prevent erosion at the new tennis courts. ?? Since we're doing sitework at an international school, it may be fun to learn that the word "pond" has its root in the?Latin word "pono," meaning "to put, place, or set".? And, the word RE-tain means to "keep something in place". Therefore, our introductory sentence is RE-dundant. ????
