Redefining Higher Education on a digital context based on EU best practices and policy recommendations

关于我们

RE-DIRECTION will constitute a transformative work on the issues aroused after the digital usage expansion in HE bringing forward national actors and stakeholders for the showcase of the needs of different HEIs of Ukraine and Georgia and on a country level. We aim to train staff and trainers, concerning the redesigned curricula developed and craft policy recommendations on connectivity issues of remote HEIs, with ultimate goals to equally meet the labor market needs as well as learners’ needs, match the essential skills and jobs, adapt to fast-changing workplace requirements and bring forward innovative skills. In detail, RE-DIRECTION aims at reinforcing Ukrainian and Georgian Universities with innovative forms of teaching, by redesigning and updating current curricula covering the triphasic spectrum of digitalization, sustainability and inclusivity. At the same time, we envisage to create this change homogenously towards target country HEIs and for this reason a Methodological Framework will be developed, based on the desk and field research, putting evidence on the current trends, societal skills demand, best practices and identifying gaps and inefficiencies. During the development phase of the curricula, we will develop both core and specialized courses which will be validated by a Consultation Committee, reassuring the standards are maintained and regulations are followed. Simultaneously, our project will put a great focus on remote HEIs and institutions of vulnerable communities. During the piloting phase of the redesigned curricula important data will be extracted, emphasizing on connectivity issues of remote HEIS and/or students residing in remote areas. Based on the findings, we will involve stakeholders and policy makers in the development of policy recommendations in key areas such as: connectivity solutions, access to IT infrastructure, partnership with ISPs and innovative solutions i.e. 5G and mesh networks.

On November 21-22, Vinnytsia Mykhailo Kotsiubynskyi State Pedagogical University hosted the XII All-Ukrainian Scientific and Practical Conference of Young Scientists and Education Applicants “Actual Problems of Modern Pedagogical Science and Scientific and Pedagogical Research in the Context of Integration into the European Educational Space”. The conference was attended by more than 230 participants - students, young scientists, and educators, who, according to a preliminary survey, expressed over 90% satisfaction with the results of the conference. The conference was devoted to the topical issues of integration of Ukrainian education and science into the European educational space, development of mechanisms to ensure European concepts of sustainable development, digital transformation and inclusiveness in Ukrainian education. The conference participants participated in four sections, including one dedicated to the international Erasmus project RE-DIRECTION (ERASMUS-EDU-2023-CBHE-STRAND-2). This project, which aims to provide quality education to displaced Ukrainian students, is gaining increasing recognition for its impact on changing educational opportunities in regions affected by the military conflict. Experts and students emphasized that the concepts of digital transformation, sustainable development and inclusiveness help displaced students stay connected and continue their education remotely, thus promoting sustainable learning in the face of socio-cultural change. The conference featured interesting presentations and messages, speakers shared new ideas and views, which encouraged all participants to engage in lively scientific discussion and debate. We believe that the results of our joint work will be a significant contribution to solving the current pedagogical problems of innovative development of Ukrainian education and further integration of education and science of Ukraine into the European educational space. We thank all participants and speakers, our Georgian partners who joined the conference, for their participation and fruitful discussions! We are thrilled to announce the successful completion of Work Package 2 (WP2) of the Re-Direction project, a milestone that brings us closer to our goal of enhancing skills development and supporting the professional reintegration of individuals affected by crisis and displacement. As a core outcome of WP2, the Re-Direction Methodological Framework Report has been developed—an innovative, comprehensive guide tailored to address the challenges and needs of learners in fragile contexts. The Re-Direction Methodological Framework is a structured approach designed to support educational institutions, trainers, and policymakers in fostering more inclusive and adaptive learning environments. Grounded in principles of resilience, adaptability, and relevance, the framework provides a blueprint for creating curricula and training programs that are not only aligned with EQF and EQAVET standards but are also responsive to the specific needs of displaced individuals and those in conflict-affected regions. By incorporating best practices in digital learning, vocational training, and psychosocial support, the framework aims to create pathways that empower individuals with skills applicable in both local and international job markets. The framework also emphasizes the importance of sustainable partnerships and the integration of digital transformation within educational settings. By fostering collaboration among European and international institutions, it encourages knowledge exchange and capacity building, which are critical for achieving long-term impacts and creating synergies. With the Re-Direction Methodological Framework now complete, the project team will move forward with its implementation and evaluation phases, ensuring that it continues to meet the needs of both educators and learners in diverse and challenging environments. The completion of WP2 marks a significant step for the Re-Direction project and paves the way for upcoming work packages focused on the practical application of this framework. We look forward to sharing further updates and insights as we continue our mission to facilitate accessible and effective education for all. Dear Stakeholders! We are reaching out as part of the ongoing Re-Direction Project, which aims to transform higher education systems in Ukraine and Georgia by aligning them with EU standards. To help achieve this, we are seeking your invaluable input on the Methodological Framework we have developed. About the Methodological Framework: The framework serves as a comprehensive roadmap to modernize higher education curricula, ensuring that they address skill gaps while promoting best practices in digital, green, and inclusive education. Built on the DACUM (Development of Curriculum) methodology, the framework focuses on designing competency-based training to equip students with the practical skills required in today’s evolving educational landscape. Why Your Input Matters: To validate this framework, we have developed a questionnaire in collaboration with Gori State University and Patras University. The feedback collected will help ensure the framework is both effective and relevant to the needs of academic staff, policymakers, and stakeholders like you. We kindly ask you to participate in this important survey to share your insights and feedback. Your voice will directly contribute to shaping the future of higher education in our region. Steering Committee Call on September 4th: Progress in Developing Educational Standards and Learning Outcomes We are pleased to announce that on Wednesday, September 4, 2024, the Re-Direction project’s Steering Committee held a productive meeting, discussing the current progress and upcoming actions in the development of key educational standards and learning outcomes. The meeting focused on two important actions led by the University of Patras and co-led by the Dnipro University of Technology. Action 2.2.2: Developing Standards and Expected Learning Outcomes In this action, the consortium is working on creating a set of standards and expected learning outcomes, which are integral to the Methodological Framework for the project. Following a comprehensive literature review and analysis, and using the template developed by NTU DP, the team is outlining learning outcomes across three key areas: Digital Transformation, Sustainability, and Inclusivity. This effort is based on the DACUM methodology, ensuring a structured and focused approach. Progress in this area will be pivotal in setting a solid foundation for educational quality within the project. Action 2.2.3: Gathering Feedback through an Open Consultation Process The second point of discussion revolved around the open consultation process. The consortium is preparing to gather valuable feedback from academic staff, policymakers, and stakeholders to validate the Methodological Framework. This feedback will be collected through an online consultation and aims to ensure that the framework developed in previous actions is comprehensive and relevant. The goal is to collect feedback from at least 150 stakeholders, including 100 academic staff and 50 policymakers, across Georgia and Ukraine. The consortium will carefully select participants using a defined set of criteria to meet national regulations and project needs. Once the feedback is gathered, a meeting will be held to compare findings across countries and consolidate the data collected. ______________________________________ Funded by the European Union.
