RDI is a complete subsurface irrigation system with plant-responsive technology delivering water directly to the plant roots as they need. The RDI tape, when filled with water, creates the perfect irrigation tube. Its surface is composed by millions of micropores and its interior is infused with a hydrophilic polymer. When plants release chemical exudates as a sign of water demand, the tape reacts chemically by breaking the molecular bond and triggering the flow of water through the micropores. RDI’ s nature driven technology uses 30 to 50% less water than Standard Subsurface Irrigation and 90% less than all others Surface Irrigation. Produces 40% more and better yields. By responding to the plants' needs, it adapts to their absorption capacity, optimizing their health and growth. Uses 50% less chemicals. The system's low flow provides organic activators to the rhizosphere and maintains optimum soil moisture to increase microbial activity. RDI stays underground for years, season after season. No electricity or fuel is needed. Reduces Agriculture’s Carbon Footprint. Can be gravity fed and works in harsh climates & non-arable land. Enables green spaces in urban areas using reclaimed and treated greywater. Works on rooftops, vertical walls and city parks decreasing urban heat island effect.
