At the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers (RCI), our mission is to shine a light on the often invisible yet essential role of family caregivers. We’re thrilled to announce the launch of Profiles of Experiences of Caregiving? (Caregiver Profiles), a new framework developed in partnership with Duke University. These profiles capture the diverse and evolving experiences of caregivers, highlighting key phases and stressors to help us design targeted support and resources that meet caregivers' real needs. Caregiver Profiles? aims to provide more tailored, holistic support to the over 105 million people in the United States who are actively engaged in family caregiving. October 1 was United Nations International Day of Older Persons, when UN Secretary?António Guterres?implored each of us to “commit to strengthen care and support systems that honour the dignity of older persons and caregivers." Today, as part of?#UNDayOfOlderPersons?commemorations, we are honored to join the conversation at the?United Nations?on aging and the vital role family caregivers play within the global aging agenda. Representing the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers (RCI), we are committed to ensuring caregivers’ needs and contributions are recognized and supported worldwide. In a preview of Caregiving, a documentary produced by Bradley Cooper and set to air in 2025 on?PBS?the film highlights the stories and sacrifices of millions of unpaid caregivers across America. After six transformative years, Jennifer Olsen will be stepping down as CEO of the Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregivers at the end of 2024. Under her leadership, RCI amplified caregiver voices, strengthened national caregiving policy, and centered the health and well-being of family caregivers across the country. We are deeply grateful for her dedication and commitment in advancing Mrs. Carter’s vision. Dr. Olsen’s many accomplishments include expanding RCI’s advocacy to the national stage and launching impactful initiatives that continue to support caregivers in need.
