关于我们

The Raymond Coalition for Youth, established as a non-profit agency in January of 2002, has been operating to Promote Positive Healthy Choices for Youth successfully ever since. Our Mission – Raymond Coalition For Youth empowers the community to promote positive youth development and reduce youth substance use and suicide risk. Our Vision – We envision a community where our youth are valued and supported to make healthy choices. Our Goals – Increase Community involvement and collaboration Engage and Empower youth voice Reduce Youth Substance use Ensure the long-term sustainability and success of RCFY. RCFY has many programs and services that have been developed, implemented and created through the partnerships that are formed at our monthly networking meetings. Everyone who lives, works and plays in Raymond NH is considered a member of RCFY and plays an important role in the work we do to keep our mission moving forward. We are a non-profit organization that functions on grants, donations, and in-kind services provided by our numerous partners and volunteers. Our active Youth Action Groups in our schools are our greatest accomplishments. By empowering our youth to get involved and have a voice, great programming and success has followed. The governing body of RCFY is our Board of Directors. This is a volunteer board and re-elections are held each year in November. The efforts of RCFY continue to move forward on the dedication of volunteers and grant funding for limited staff. If you are looking for a great organization to support or become more involved with, your time will be appreciated and put to good use at RCFY. Executive Director, Raymond Coalition For Youth

I am #honored and #grateful to receive one of the 20 Outstanding Women of 2025 on WZID Radio (Saga Communications) I was excited to take the opportunity to talk about the work we do each day at the Raymond Coalition for Youth to raise awareness to the importance of youth substance misuse prevention. We touched upon our great relationship with the Drug Enforcement Administration, our work around #onepillcankill, increasing concerns for youth vaping use and the increase of marijuana products and concerns around high THC content. You can hear the full interview here: https://lnkd.in/eiiz3-3y

This is a great opportunity to learn about the great work we do together and how you can share your knowledge, information and resources to be a part of supporting our youth. This week we will be looking at information shared by our youth in a focus group as a part of the Exeter Hospital community assessment. We will also get an update on current 2025 NH Bills from Sarah Cain of New Futures so we can be aware of and provide information as needed in regard to our children's health and wellbeing. • We are so proud of our #rcfy Youth Action students. Today two of our members, Marissa and Will, sat down with WMUR-TV Katherine Underwood Sottung to discuss youth mental health. What is mental health look like to our students? What are the stressors they have in their lives? How can we as adults, and a community, positively support our youth and their mental health? Thank you to WMUR for knowing that the best way to address this issue is by engaging our young people and giving them an opportunity to share their voice. We look forward to seeing the news story in the coming weeks. If you or someone you know struggles with mental health, please know that people care and want to help. Please use the following resources and share them. 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline Seacoast Mental Health Center NAMI American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

  • We are starting to hear more and more talk about "intoxicating hemp" products. Thank you to Laura Stack for sharing this break down, to make it a little bit easier to understand, although it has a lot of science behind it and is confusing to many. Which only makes prevention around it even more of a challenge. The import part to know is that these products are dangerous and becoming more and more accessible. We are sure there will be more to come but please start having these prevention conversations to help raise awareness and keep our kids safe.

Marijuana Versus Hemp (Delta-9-THC vs. Delta-8-THC) - What’s the Difference? Cannabis is a genus of flowering plant. Cannabis has hundreds of species or strains. Some cannabis plants are classified as marijuana, which are drug varieties. Some cannabis plants are classified as hemp, which are not drug varieties. How do you know if it’s marijuana or hemp? Botanically, marijuana plants contain greater than .3% delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (delta-9-THC), the chemical, or cannabinoid, in the plant that makes users high. Hemp contains less than .3% delta-9-THC. Marijuana plants (and its derivative delta-9-THC products such as vapes, dabs, and edibles) are legal for recreational use in 25 states. Hemp plants, however, are legal in ALL 50 states under the Farm Act of 2018, because they contain very little delta-9-THC and are considered an industrial plant. Unfortunately, the Farm Act accidentally legalized THC nationwide. The authors left out a very important rule you can’t make psychoactive products or THC isomers out of hemp. You see, marijuana and hemp plants also contain another chemical called cannabidiol (CBD), which on its own doesn’t make you high. But in a lab, you can take hemp (legal), extract the CBD, and run it through a process called isomerization (loophole). If you close a carbon chain and move a double bind in CBD, you can convert it to Delta-8-THC. Delta-8-THC binds with the same CB1 (cannabinoid-1) receptors in the brain as Delta-9-THC, so it is psychoactive. Delta-8-THC is one of approximately 100 cannabinoids that exist in miniscule amounts in marijuana, but you can create it in unlimited amounts in a lab from CBD extracted from hemp. This loophole has allowed the addiction-for-profit industry to fly under the radar and flood the market with all sorts of psychoactive products containing THC, such as delta-10-THC, delta-11-THC, THC-A, THC-O, THO-P, etc. These various products all have different potencies, but THC is THC is THC, and it will make you high. Yes, Delta-8-THC may be weaker than Delta-9-THC, but teens just take more. Delta-8 products impact your brain in the same way marijuana does, regardless of what plant they were made from. Sadly, Delta-8 vapes, candies, drinks, and edibles can be purchased (in states where they haven’t been banned) in CBD shops, vape shops, smoke shops, gas stations, dollar stores, and online, to name a few outlets. Delta-8-THC products can be even worse in many ways, since they are synthetic and lab-derived with harmful chemical processes, solvents, and additives. Delta-8-THC and CBD products are completely unregulated with no health benefits approved by the FDA. In fact, the FDA has warned against their use, saying, “Delta-8-THC “has serious health risks” and “may be marketed in a way that puts the public health at risk.” https://lnkd.in/ei4aGH6T
