Our first construction tour with Madame Architect, as part of our "Madame Architect Presents" event series! We saw the future home of the Ray Harlem flagship 222-unit apartment building and state-of-the-art National Black Theatre complex, designed by Frida Escobedo Studio in collaboration with Handel Architects, Marvel , and LMXD as the development partner. This was very special for us as we interviewed the female-led team behind Ray in 2021, as our very first team interview (read it here: https://lnkd.in/eKbzH64Y). It's amazing to now see the project come to life. The 21-story tower, designed by the indomitable Frida Escobedo (in partnership with Handel Architects), will serve as a home to both Ray Harlem and the National Black Theatre. This week we celebrated the groundbreaking of Ray Nashville. Located walking distance from The Gulch and Lower Broadway at 601 Lafayette Street in Pietown, the $211 million 32-story Nashville project encompasses approximately 575,000 square feet, including 367 residential units and retail. Thank you to our partners VeLa Development Partners, Layton Construction, Johnston Marklee, and District 19 Metro Councilmember Jacob Kupin for their inspiring words on how our project will positively impact the creative community and economy of Nashville & Middle Tennessee. Ray and VeLa Development Partners announced the groundbreaking of Ray Nashville, a distinctive residential building that will highlight works from Nashville-based artists and beyond. Located in the heart of the Pie Town neighborhood, Ray Nashville is designed by award-winning architectural firm Johnston Marklee, in partnership with Lamar Johnson Collaborative, with state-of-the-art amenities designed by award-winning Parts and Labor Design in collaboration with Ray's in-house design team. Construction financing for Ray Nashville was provided by J.P. Morgan and Monroe Capital LLC and arranged by Walker & Dunlop. The groundbreaking at Ray Nashville, follows the successful opening of Ray Philly, the topping out of Ray Harlem in New York, and a recent groundbreaking at Ray Phoenix. Ray and VeLa Development Partners announced the groundbreaking of Ray Phoenix, a design-forward multifamily residential building featuring one of the region’s most comprehensive amenity packages, spacious studio, one and two-bedroom apartment units with floor-to-ceiling windows offering mountain and skyline views, a ground-level exhibition venue and retail, and a site-specific mural in the resident lobby by renowned American multimedia artist Alex Israel. Designed by world-renowned architectural firm Johnston Marklee, in partnership with Lamar Johnson Collaborative, the building will be located in the Roosevelt Row Arts District, with an aim to enhance the community by making art, architecture, and design highly accessible to its residents.
