关于我们
The mission of RCI Inc. is to increase diversity, equity, and inclusion in the selection of arbitrators, mediators, and other ADR neutrals. It will do this by encouraging commitment to the RCI pledge and otherwise providing research and tools to support the selection of diverse neutrals. The Ray Corollary Initiative? (RCI?) is a detailed plan for action to increase the number of diverse persons selected as arbitrators and mediators. Here is the challenge: if we want to increase the number of persons of color and women who serve as arbitrators, mediators, and other neutrals, we must change the system for selecting these individuals. This means changing the way that advocates choose neutrals and the way that rostering entities formulate the slates from which advocates make their final selection of neutrals. The Ray Corollary Initiative? (RCI?) is a detailed plan for action to increase the number of diverse persons selected as arbitrators and mediators. The RCI uses a 30% metric in the final selection process and relies on measurable results. The “Ray Corollary” is named after Charlotte E. Ray who graduated from Howard University School of Law in 1872 and is the first Black woman to be admitted to a bar in the United States. We need to understand the back-end problem of the lack of diversity in the ADR field, one that leads people to pick arbitrators or mediators they know and creates slates of neutrals who (like most selectors) tend to be older, male, and white. Most important, The Ray Corollary Initiative? can help address this self-perpetuating situation.

Thank you to Todd Drucker, Meredith H. Stockman and Leah J. Wilson for representing Miles at the Ray Corollary Initiative’s “Meet the Neutrals” Speed Networking Event at Triad 2024 NYC. #MilesAboveTheRest #mediation #arbitration #ADR #EmploymentLaw #TRIAD2024
Yesterday Meredith H. Stockman, Todd Drucker, & I represented Miles Mediation & Arbitration as Selectors for the Ray Corollary Initiative’s “Meet the Neutrals” event at the Labor and Employment Relations Association Triad Conference in New York where we spoke with Neutrals across the nation about their practice and experience. This event is centered around the RCI’s mission to “utilize all available talent” by bringing together ADR providers, selectors, and Neutrals to expand panels and provide more opportunities for diverse mediators & arbitrators. Thank you Ray Corollary Initiative for allowing us to participate and be a sponsor for this imperative event!
