    Why I Joined Ravenna - by Dan Bellenbaum Over the years I’ve had the privilege of working with several startups, mostly in CX and internal ticketing software. I’ve learned a lot. I’ve also gone to a lot of happy hours with colleagues and customers, so I’ve forgotten a lot too.?? Kevin Coleman and Taylor Halliday reached out to me to tell me about Ravenna right as they were launching in mid-2024. What stood out to me immediately was their commitment to building software that puts the users first, and the impressive experience history of these cofounders. As someone who’s spent a significant portion of my career in customer-facing roles, I know how vital it is to create products that people actually want to use every day. The product and goal were familiar, the founders seemed great, but it was way too early to explore anything substantial that we could do together. Fast forward to the end of 2024 and the progress that these guys made was astounding. They went from ‘hey what do you think about this idea’ to a full-blown ticketing platform, fully integrated into Slack, with AI assistance, within 6 months. Now I understood not just the value of the pain they were solving, but the expeditious nature of their work. I was sold. As I’ve gotten to know Kevin Coleman and Taylor Halliday I’ve grown to appreciate the value of their efforts even more. They have families. They work hard. They are ambitious, but humble. I feel comfortable telling them how I feel, and they take my advice seriously. I can ask for nothing more in a relationship with founders and business leaders. The fact that the product and business are equally as strong-footed as the founders is a testament to their rapid and thoughtful work. They have already built something incredible - I can’t imagine where we’ll be in a year. This space is aching for something new, and we’re building it rapidly. I’ve taken on roles before without fully understanding the product or market they were in. (What can I say - I’m a gambler. Career risk doesn’t scare me nearly as much as complacency does these days). This time was very different for me…I know this space well. I know the pain, and I know how to solve it. We’re early and there’s going to be quite a hill to climb, but I have zero doubt that we will be growing like a weed in the very near future. Ultimately people don’t really invest in things, they invest in ideas and people. I’m investing my time and attention into these guys because I know that they will pull this off, and my FOMO will gnaw at me if I can’t be a part of that. My general theory on why people buy software - is that someone believed this solution could make them look very smart to their colleagues, which outweighed the risk of making it look like they made a dumb decision. I’m bought into Ravenna because I think it’s going to end up making me look like a f****ing genius for joining when I did.
