New illustrations for l'éléphant , the general culture magazine, for a long article: "How artificial intelligence is disrupting copyright” By Annabelle Dumoutet, Legal Expert The functioning of generative AI questions the very notions of intellectual property and creation. In December 2023, the New York Times sued Open AI and its investor Microsoft for copyright infringement. The newspaper criticises Chat GPT, the artificial intelligence (AI) system developed by the company, for using its articles in the answers given to users without permission. In this case, the global operation of so-called generative AI is at stake. Is it compatible with copyright? Is it a real threat to journalism, culture and art? So many questions that the US justice will have to answer, and which could also arise in France. But before we dive into the intricacies of intellectual property law, let’s try to understand how AI systems work... Over the years, I’ve had the pleasure of illustrating a range of financial and business topics, transforming complex and often "dry" information into visuals that are both easy to understand and visually appealing. I find it incredibly rewarding to help educate people about personal finance management, as it can truly have a positive impact on their lives. Financial literacy is something many people lack, and if I can contribute to bridging that gap through my illustrations, I’ll do my best to make it as effective as possible. Illustrator Alison Seiffer?was commissioned to design a community mural in downtown Cincinnati, titled?"Spectator’s Advantage", for the Cincinnati Open. They partnered with?ArtWorks Cincinnati?to produce the mural, which?was painted by 16 local youth apprentices and serves as a visual tribute to the legacy and future of the annual tennis tournament. Community members came together last week to celebrate the official dedication of the mural.
