The installation of the Rapiscan Systems equipment will accelerate detection capabilities powered by cutting-edge technology, and passengers will no longer be required to unload their cabin baggage, giving a smoother and more convenient journey through Sunshine Coast Airport. These upgrades have been taking place in a live operating environment to minimise impacts for passengers, and we appreciate the continued support as we drive this exciting yet important initiative forward.

???? Great to see our 920CT & TRS system now starting to be deployed at Brisbane Airport Corporation - a great achievement for everyone involved in transforming BNE.
In a major milestone moment, the first screening lane using the future-state standard three Rapiscan Systems has been deployed at the Qantas Premium screening location at the Domestic Terminal and is now operational and screening cabin luggage. 16 more of these enhanced screening lanes will be rolled-out across the Domestic Terminal by next Christmas in alignment with the Australian Federal Government's 2017 mandate to enhance aviation security by implementing new ‘standard three’ security equipment to meet global standards already active in the United States and Europe. Work is underway in the central part of the Domestic Terminal to create direct access from the car park along the Skywalk and into a brand-new screening point that will house more of these state-of-the-art screening machines with temporary passenger screening points relocated to both ends of the terminal to make space for construction to take place. Over the last few weeks, our Security Team have been very busy in London for hands-on training with the experts at Rapiscan and we’re gearing up for some exciting changes! Here they are receiving training from the experts at Rapiscan Head Office Training Facility and posing next to NGSC cabin baggage screening X-ray equipment. They attended the International Security Expo in London a few weeks back where they attended the International Security & Resilience Conference. By the end of the year, we'll be opening our Next Generation Security Checkpoint as part of our state-of-the-art upgrade at Cornwall Airport Newquay. These upgrades are all about enhancing security while making the passenger experience even smoother. The building can be seen being lifted by crane into position, getting ready to host this innovative equipment – it’s so exciting to see it all happen and we’re proud to see our #SmallButMighty airport taking big steps forward for the future of travel, for us and the wonderful people we serve! ??
