Our friends and collaborators @ Prime Power Rentals are killing it with their new BFT-G, Backfeed Rapid Pole System with 1MW generator!
Less than 24 hours before the Super Bowl kickoff, a car hit a major transmission tower, collapsing it onto distribution lines and causing an outage for over 600 customers. Eversource Energy NH contacted Prime Power Rentals to help restore power at 10 PM on a cold, snowy Saturday night with the big game kickoff counting down. ? Even with heavy snow and treacherous traveling conditions, Prime Power Rentals' team restored power to more than 450 customers by 5 AM with their POWER PACK (https://lnkd.in/eh8Mfw8Y). Prime Power Rentals deployed their 2.2 MW generator to power a 2500 kVA transformer to restore service for the remaining customers. With all equipment operational and online, the team ensured power was restored with plenty of time for everyone to enjoy the Super Bowl uninterrupted. The POWER PACK is Prime Power Rentals' newest fleet addition. It consists of a 1MW diesel generator, a 1000kVA transformer capable of producing primary voltage up to 13.8kV, and a hydraulically operated extendable power pole known as the Rapid Pole. All this equipment is contained in one 45-foot trailer. Superbowl weekend, a motor-vehicle accident took down a transmission tower onto a distribution line section, leaving 800+ distribution customers without electricity and heat in freezing temperatures.?Customers affected were given a lengthy estimated time of restoration due to the extensive repairs needed on the T&D structures. Fortunately, Eversource Energy and Prime Power Rentals had Rapid Poles ready to roll. By connecting mobile primary risers to the distribution line away from the damage, they were able to back-feed power from generators, restoring electricity hours faster than traditional methods.?Behind the scenes, they were feeding temporary power to customers for roughly 30hrs.? Thanks to their swift response and the unmatched effectiveness of the Rapid Pole - Temporary Power Poles, customers not only had their lights and heat restored faster, but also didn’t miss a single moment of the big game with family and friends. At Prime Power Rentals, we’re proud to partner with proactive customers like Central Maine Power Company. Recently, during a pole replacement project, CMP brought us in to ensure that over 70 homes stayed powered to keep heat and lights uninterrupted. Thanks to our versatile POWER PACK, we provided seamless support for both overhead primary voltage and ground-level operations. For this job, we powered 19 single-phase pad transformers simultaneously by delivering 7200V via the POWER PACK to just one transformer. Without our solution, those 70+ homes would have faced an 8-hour outage in temperatures averaging around 10°F. Instead, our intervention resulted in a minimal 3?-minute outage.
