Had a gun come into the shop that the owner couldn't get apart. As it was a Ruger MK I they are notorious for getting back together but never apart. Seems that the pivot pin for the main spring housing was loose in its hole and had drifted over and had locked the whole thing in to the frame. I drove out the housing, but the pin, rather than shearing, bent out the frame opening causing a large sharp burr. The pin and it's hole had been wallowed out. I tapped it back in then flared both sides to hold it in the hole. The frame was peened back in place, sanded smooth and re-blued. It was then function tested and test fired. Then dis assembled again to make sure everything stayed in place. The interior was filthy but a good sonic bath cleaned it right up.

  • Had a Ruger MK II come into the shop with a sticky bolt. It had been stored for years and the oil had it gummed up. There was some difficulty in getting it apart due to a pivot pin backing out of the main spring housing and locking itself into the frame of the gun. The only way to get it apart was a hammer and punch. The out of place pin rolled out part of the frame and required some hammer and file work to get it back into shape. Once I worked the metal back down and blended it, it was time for bluing. The gun received a good sonic bath and re-oil and re-assembly. Let me know if I can help fix one of yours.

  • I had an heirloom rifle come into the shop for some rehab. The rifle was possibly made in the late 40's or early 50's. Its a rifle most likely produced by Stevens Arms and sold under the brand name of Shapleighs Hardware as a King Nitro. This is a single shot bolt action .22 that had seen better days. The stock was missing its butt plate, and was broken in 3 places and repaired with nails, screws, glue and electrical tape. there were some gaps in the wood and holes that I filled and re-shaped with colored epoxy and some judicious sanding and filing. The barrel was fitted with a marbles No 5 silver bead front sight that was badly bent. The barrel was rusty but the bore was clean. The trigger was way too light from years of use. The trigger bar required thinning down so the sear would engage deeper into the bolt. I fabricated a new curved butt plate and all the metal was sanded and re-blued. Overall it's not new but it looks better.

I am pleased to announce that I am Kansas only dealer of a new and innovative rim fire suppressor by Asteroid Precision Rifle & Suppressors. This suppressor is known as the RimFire and like its name it's rated for all rim Fire cartridges and the centerfire 5.7x28. The RimFire uses a new form of symmetrical baffling that keeps the can quiet and provides for easy cleaning. The way the suppressor is built makes it highly configurable which allows for size changes and POI tuning. Come see me and set up a test fire demo today.

  • What do you do when the gun from childhood you love is broke but there are no more parts for it and the last gunsmith told you he wouldn't even look at it? You bring it to me of course! I center drilled the broken piece to the proper size and silver soldered a piece of drill rod into the body. I then mounted it and measured for length, and trimmed to size. Good as new.
