The Randolph County EDC hosted a luncheon for Industry Appreciation month for our companies celebrating a five-year milestone. We celebrated Randolph County Companies who have been doing business here. It ranged from 5 - 75 years of doing business in Randolph County. Thank you to all the companies who stay and grow here, we appreciate you. In attendance today was United Wood Products-75 years, Liberty Trailers-65 years, Village Printing-55 years, Orgin-40 years, Matlab, Inc.-40 years, PIP Printing-40 years, Engineered Steel Products-30 years, Timken-30 years, Blower Engineering-10 years and Eastern Steel Works-5 years.

Randolph County EDC hosted its Fourth Annual Forklift Rodeo for Industry Apprceiation Month. We had a new, more challenging course this year and the drivers had to bring their forklift skills to the table. We had eleven drivers representing eleven different companies in Randolph County. It was a great time for all.

We knew it all along, but it's great to see the North Carolina Zoo, located in Asheboro, receive the Newsweek Readers Choice Award as the best zoo in the country! It's a timely recognition as the Zoo recently celebrated its 50th anniversary and the 30 millionth visitor since opening. And, an expansion is underway to add an Asia exhibit. We're excited to officially welcome Axium Packaging to Randolph County, NC! Axium announced today the opening of their first North Carolina manufacturing plant in the City of Archdale. The company announced this $36 million project in February of 2023, and the new 130,000 square-foot facility will bring new jobs and economic opportunity to our community. We had a fantastic Annual Meeting last night with great food, great fellowship, and great information. This was another record year for us, and we greatly appreciate the support of our investors along with our Board Chair fred smith and the rest of our board of directors whose support has been critical to our success. And, of course, our EDC staff made it all happen. Kudos to Crystal Gettys, Lisa Bennett, and Kevin Franklin for a blockbuster year! Over the past 12 months, we've announced investment of over $8.5 billion, along with more than 4,200 new jobs, blowing our 5-year goals out of the water! Toyota Motor Corporation led the way again this year, announcing $8B in new investment and 3,000 jobs at their new battery plant. We also worked hard to bring Ross Stores, Inc. to our community with plans develop a 1.7 million sf distribution facility and a resulting $450 million investment and 852 new jobs. Lesser in value but no less important, we appreciate growth and investment by MD Mattress, Carolina Pellet, Toyota Tsusho America, FUJIHATSU & TOYOTSU Battery Components North Carolina LLC, Jowat Corporation, Theodore Alexander, Green Metals, Inc., Amor Furniture and Bedding, LLC, and Pemmco Manufacturing, Inc. We're excited to announce that Green Metals, Inc. will be constructing a new recycling facility on the Toyota Battery campus in Liberty to support Toyota's recycling needs! GMI's expertise in recycling and waste stream management will support Toyota Motor Corporation's ethos of environmental sustainability and responsibility. GMI will invest $19.8 million and create 47 new jobs at the facility over a five-year period.
