Designed to foster collaboration, innovation, and creativity, the Schoenecker Center for STEAM expands the University of St. Thomas’s south campus. The Schoenecker Center is a leader among a new generation of higher-education facilities dedicated to interdisciplinary exchange. Instead of responding to the needs of a single department or school, it accommodates the university’s School of Engineering and the College of Arts & Sciences — departments that rarely overlap in more traditional academic settings. Across all five floors, the 130,000 sq-ft building houses an array of spaces for arts, media, sciences, engineering, and innovation. Design led by Melissa DelVecchio, FAIA; Graham S. Steeped in history and unifying an urban composition cobbled together over centuries, the new Virginia General Assembly Building anchors the northwest corner of Capitol Square in downtown Richmond. From skyline to sidewalk, Claremont Hall responds to the architectural context of Morningside Heights. The building’s base relates to the intimate scale of Claremont Avenue and ties it to the existing fabric of Union Theological Seminary and its surrounding neighborhood. Eight stories tall, this base contains faculty housing, parking, and the academic wing. ?? The tower’s massing steps back from Claremont Avenue, providing a transition to the building’s top while creating outdoor terraces and loggias for use by the residents. We're proud to announce a new collaboration with the National Trust for Historic Preservation’s "Where Women Made History" initiative.
