What a wonderful and wild two days of #Accessibility! Firstly, Steven Mataya and I traveled up to Beverly Hills last night to participate in the Grammy Week kick off event, RAMPD DisCo House Mixer, which celebrates disability inclusion in the music industry and beyond and also raised funds to support wildfire relief efforts. Special thanks to Lachi ?, Jon Bell, and Live Nation Entertainment… it was truly wonderful to connect (and reconnect) with so many advocates and warriors. Tonight, Steven and I made our way to the Microsoft Reactor in Redmond to participate in the third Seattle Disability Connect hosted by Christopher Caulfield. This was a chance to learn and collaborate with accessibility professionals from the Seattle area. Two super busy days- in two states- with hundreds of accessibility champions. Man, if that doesn’t get me pumped- nothing will! Image Descriptions: Three images from the RAMPD DisCo House Mixer show Steve and Steven with Jon and Akilah Cadet, DHSc, MPH - all looking STUNNING on a red carpet. Behind them is a wall displaying the name of event and several sponsors. An image shows the entrance to the Microsoft Reactor building. The name can also be seen on the window. An image shows a slide reading “Being the Pause Button: Multi-Disability Inclusion in Accessibility, Best Practice” with the name and photo of author and presenter, Elsa Sjunneson Jones. An image shows Christopher, Elsa, and a female ASL interpreter presenting in front of an audience of participants. #Accessibility #Grammys #Access #DisabilityInclusion #A11y #NothingAboutUsWithoutUs

RAMPD 's DisCo House at Live Nation Entertainment was a whole vibe! This was a night where the DISability COmmunuty took center stage-good music, great energy, and a community that just gets it. From meeting talented artists, to laughing with good friends, and sparking new connections, this is what true accessibility in music looks like. Cheers to Lachi ? at RAMPD and Chantel Diaz +Jon Bell at Live Nation Entertainment for making spaces where accessibility isn’t an afterthought, but a seamless experience. ??? Oh, by the way... If you haven't checked out Austin Halls music, do it! "All Eyes On Me" ?? #DisCoHouse #RAMPD #LiveNation #AccessibilityInMusic [Image Descriptions: 1 & 2. Another amazing Grammys in the books!! ?? Brought african realness, black girl joy and disability pride to the red carpet wearing this royal Studio D'Maxsi dress and a matching Glam Cane! And for the fourth year RAMPD, helped bring accessibility to the Grammys through sign language interpretation from Pro Bono ASL, and for the first year ever, we had ASL at the premier ceremony! Let’s GOOO progress ?? It was surreal to be seated beside LA firefighters who worked tirelessly to save lives. Huge shoutout to MusiCares Foundation for activating the music community and raising funds for LA wildfire relief. It was and is always an honor to have brought our RAMPD family together in force, in the room, to celebrate music in a major way! What a night of community, resilience, and historic wins. I’m a little salty Shaboozey didn’t win but we’ll just have to collab for his next nom [IMAGES - Lachi on the Grammys red carpet in a blue gown posing alone, with artists, and with ASL interpreters.] #Grammys #GrammyAwards

Legacy building with Stevie Wonder ?? It's not every day you get to hang with the GOAT. But you know you're doing GOOD work in both music and advocacy when you are constantly blessed. Thank you Stevie for your words, your heart, your talent, and for paving the way for a blind gal! And thank you NAMM Show, for acting like you're a bunch of geeks when really you're a bunch of ICONS! Business Manager | Operations | Living at the cross-section of Music & Advocacy

Flying out with RAMPD to LA for Grammy Week... Disasters like the LA fires, or other recent events from war to Covid to climate change, are disabling events - suddenly, a lot of people find themselves acquiring a disability or neurodiversity without warning, and without adequate preparation or support. Suddenly, a lot of people are engaging with a healthcare industry that is not nearly as convenient as they had hoped, might feel isolated from their friends and family, or overwhelmed with lifestyle changes. But there is such an important component to these lifechanging events that can sometimes take years to discover - and that is Community. There is a shared culture to being disabled or neurodiverse, and it isn't one of grief or loss at all! It is one of resilience, of adaptation, fierce determination, and most importantly, interdependence. The Disability Community are the first to make new friends at group therapy, the first to greet you on your first day of physical therapy, the first to share tips on what to expect next on a journey we've already taken. We love you, whoever you are, and we welcome you to find understanding, compassion, community, and shared purpose to thrive! And if you are in the Music Industry, I mean that far more literally, please do reach out to us at RAMPD, we are gathering and directing support for the industry at large and for those of our membership who were affected.
