It’s been a week since I had the privilege of presenting at the Latinos in IO Psychology Conference, yet the warmth, inclusivity, and depth of the dialogue that we shared continues to resonate.
Our time together surfaced powerful themes that reflect our unique contributions as I/O professionals and members of the Latino community:
Influence Through Purposeful Communication
Effective communication isn’t just about sharing insights; it’s about strategically connecting with HR and executive leaders to build understanding and drive alignment. As I-O practitioners, we unlock impact by shaping conversations that blend empathy, research, and real-world applications.
Transform “Otherness” into a Distinct Advantage
Many of us have journeyed through experiences where we felt like “outsiders.” Yet, these very experiences fuel our resilience, adaptability, and perspective. Our cultural backgrounds and individual journeys become strengths, enriching our approach to fostering innovative, inclusive, and human-centered workplaces.
Champion the Field of I-O Psychology
For many, the benefits of I-O psychology are still a discovery. It’s our role to be ambassadors, bringing to light the transformative potential of our field. Each conversation is an opportunity to educate and inspire, demonstrating how evidence-based practices enhance organizational health, engagement, and success.
Walk the CAMINO to Partnership
At the conference, I introduced the CAMINO framework—Connect, Align, Measure, Innovate, Navigate, Optimize—a culturally informed roadmap for building dynamic, mutually beneficial partnerships with HR and organizational leaders. CAMINO is more than a framework; it’s a path that merges cultural insights and research-backed expertise, empowering us to craft solutions that resonate across diverse organizational landscapes.
Thank you to everyone who brought their stories, insights, and open hearts to this experience.
And a very special thank you to Zytlaly Maga?a, M.S. and Alexandra O. co-founders of LIOP, for creating a space where all felt safe to share, explore, and learn from each other’s experiences.
