The story focused on the role of natural gas on the U.S. electric grid. Tom, who is also part of the TCU Ralph Lowe Energy Institute , said, "as we know, the demand for power is going to go up. A message from our very own Tom Seng, Ed.D. on how TCU is fostering an environment that prepares the energy traders of tomorrow... At the Ralph Lowe Energy Institute and the Neeley School of Business at TCU,?we emphasize experiential learning to prepare our students for actual jobs in industry. As an example, in my "Energy Trading & Hedging" course, undergraduate students utilize the CME Group's?Trading Challenge Simulator?to "trade their own book" of NYMEX crude and natural gas futures and options. They conduct fundamental research and take positions based upon the "bullish" or "bearish" conditions that exist. While some students will trade only to fulfill the assignments, others really take to the speculative trading and post numerous trades throughout the semester.?This semester's class has been very successful as a whole after just (6) weeks of participating?in the simulation. At RLEI, we are developing the energy traders of tomorrow as these students are learning the skills to be excellent Trading Interns, Junior Traders, Trading Analysts, Risk Control Analysts, etc. If you could use students with these skills and this knowledge -- please reach out to me at [email protected].
